I have a player who would like to take the Kensai PrC. At first, i said no, but after reading it, i am not sure anymore if i should add it or not. What would you do with it?

The Kensai PrC is from the complete warrior book.

Change the name, and you might be OK. It's very much like the older weapon master from Sword and Fist, and would perhaps be suitable for certain rare and highly-skilled swordmaster schools in Ergoth, or for characters who have trained themselves in a single weapon to the exclusion of all others.

Cheers,

Another option would just make them a monastic school of Majere. Just because they are monks, doesn't mean they have to fight bare-handed.

Are you talking about the Sword and Fist and Oriental Adventures Kensai (weapons master) or the Complete Warrior Kensai?

The S&F and OA one is fine, I would think. Just an extremely focused warrior. The Complete Warrior one, however, may be a little off for DL. If he was a knight or quasi-religious fighter, and you could work it it, I think it would be fine. If he is just a guy with a sword, who does what he wants, I would say no. Complete Warrior Kensai are supposed to be dedicate to some sort of higher power, deity or majesty, but something like that.

From Cam Banks :

I did read the S&F weapon master and i think the Kensai is more appropriate to that player's Warrior. I didnt find any name to replace it yet, but i am working on it. I was also thinking about a school specializing in weapon mastery. Either Ergoth or another place not found yet.

From Ferratus :

That is an interesting thought. I had thought of it, but wanted to hear from the board first. Fighter could come to the monastery and learn to be kensai without being forced into the monk class. They come to revere Majere and learn from his most devoted followers.

K_Man : I was talking about the Complete Warrior Kensai PrC. Which is why the idea of Majere overlooking the monastery and training of the Kensai would be a good idea.

Thanks guys!
