I've seen your post on the D&D general Forum, and I hate to have you run around, but there's the link to the Living*Greyhawk Forums.

Not that your questions can't be answered here, though. The book you're referring to is called Living*Greyhawk, it's all that's left of a once proud, and mighty campaign setting. It's now in the hands of the RPGA, a Role-Players association that's been around since the dawn of Roleplaying, so it's in good hands. It's used as a world-ranking type thingy for Roleplayers, but if you want to get into the Greyhawk setting then THAT'S THE BOOK TO GET! It gives you so much more information than the smaller one, and it can be used in the RPGA if you ever join. Greyhawk has a loyal following, that will be with it till the end, and we hope that you can join it!

Hi, Fritz. Forget about things like Living Greyhawk and RPGA.

To answer your question, the Dungeons & Dragons Gazetteer (© 2000 WotC) is an introductory summarization of the contemporary World of Greyhawk. It describes in brevity the people, nations and major geographic areas of concern in the Flanaess. Only a couple of Greyhawk gods are included, in sidebars. Plus, there is a folding map of the region, that is pretty cool.

It is a good resource for players, who don't usually need or want details. It is not a full-blown campiagn setting book in the tradtional sense. It's just a humble, little primer for the World of Greyhawk.

I hope this helps, mate.

The LGG is quite useful whether you play Living Greyhawk or not. The 32 page D&D gazetteer is fine if you only have a cursory interest in Greyhawk, or if you're a player. Get the LGG if you want to run a GH campaign, though.

As for Greyhawk being in "good hands," that's very debatable. Some of those involved in LG are long-time greyhawkers with a passion for the setting. However, many others knew little or nothing about GH before the LG campaign was launched, thus many of the modules are poorly-written &/or ignore established canon. Some of the modules (as well as websites & other information) are quite good, however. Overall, LG is a mixed bag, so be warned.
