OK, I'm justing throwing this open in a random fashion to provide a gathering place for what we all think should be on a sticky FAQ/info thread. If we keep it sane, simple and short then the folks in the Overcouncil could maybe select the most appropriate to answer and whack 'em in a sticky thread. Sound good?

I'll batter up and go with the #1 fave:

"I've heard about Dark Sun - is there going to be a 3e version of the seeting released any time soon?"

More to follow...?

Where can I find copies of the 2nd Edition Dark Sun books (PDF or printed)?

Why is there not going to be a printed version of DS3 released at bookstores/gaming stores?

If the athas.org conversion isn't printed, how can it be official?

Have you read the conversion rules for Dark Sun found in the Dungeon/Dragon magazines?

Why aren't those conversions used by athas.org?

What is your name?

What is your quest?

What is the air speed velocity of an unladen swallow?

Oh...wrong group of questions, heh.

Where is the official timeline of Athas at?

Where can I find detailed history on Athas?

How do I get a copy of Secrets of the Deadlands?

How do I get a copy of Dregoth Ascending?

How can I help Athas.org out?

How many champions were there officially and what was the target race of each one?

How do I join the Dark Sun mailing list?

What is deemed official, and what isn't? Does everything anyone with an athas.org email or helping Athas.org in other ways creates automatically become official?

Were Sacha and Wyan really gay and secretly in love with Rajaat?

Was Kalid-Ma really a transvestite that only the power of Ravenloft could expose?

Did said power finally grow bored of this jest and decide to hide said exposure again?

Is the paragon of the Jozhals really named King Koopa and rap like Eminem?

Does it even matter?

Where can i find a map of the known parts of athas ?

Where can i find a map of the areas outside the known parts of athas ?

Is crossing from one world (athas) to another world (toril / oerth etc) possible via the planes ?

How does the grey / black interfere with said process ?

The elemental planes are said to be different in nature with rergard to Athas - how so ? (game effects etc )

Hmm... Good topic idea... I guess we'll get good questions too, within all the rest... still fun though.

That said, I think a good start would be:

What is Dark Sun? (with an short answer on the campaign setting, and another one on the RPG setting's history)

And along the lines of questions established above:

Q: Is the Half-Giant presented in the new 3.5 Psionics Handbook a Dark Sun race?

A: OH DEAR GOD NO! DEFINATELY NOT!

As for the FAQ, I'd have the official timeline posted (cleaned up a little to match the canon books); describe the Grey, Black, and Hollow (really describe them, which means we'd have to reach some kind of consensus); Basically, we can answer a lot of the easy questions that Nyt pointed out right off the bat, the problem lies in the fact some of the questions are simply a matter of opinion. While I'm (obviously) not a big fan of the "invasion of the space halflings," it was on the board of the DS team at TSR. Since they never made it, though, I can ignore that plot idea, but others might like it and want to include it. Which is right? See what I mean?

As for the swallow, it would depend on where it was gripping the coconut.

Moreover, what is canon and what is not? Are the Prism Pentad canon? What about the other novels? RaFoaDK?

Well, technically, everything that is published by the setting's liscense holder, or those given special permision by the liscense holder, is canon. So . . . all published setting material, all adventures, all novels, all dragon and dungeon magazine articles, as well as anything produced by athas.org. This includes any and all contradictions that arise from one source or another. Decide for your own game which side of a contradictory statement holds true.

Well, at least that's how I'd answer it, if I were writing the FAQ.

Looks cool, Grummore - good idea to come up with categories like that

I know that both Jon and Flip have FAQs of one sort or another on their sites (and sigs) - it might be a good idea to merge these together along with providing answers to the list above.

Oh, and yeah, posting the various FAQS at athas.org is definitely something I've been thinking about that we should get around to real soon. The good old FAQ at meteu might need an update, with the Penguins of Flibble and all... *prods Flip*.
