Hmm...two pictures in like 2 minutes...hopefully I don't get in trouble. I know we aren't supposed to discuss books anymore...but this isn't really discussing the novel...it's an awesome cover, IMHO.

That cover is definitely awesome. When is it suppose to come out?

And what's this about us not discussing the books anymore? Did I miss something?

Oh my, a new anthology of dragon stories. Dare I hope that it would be as good as the three previous ones.

The novel boards were removed.

Also we should no longer create threads just about novels. Threads about other things which are related to novels in some way are still allowed. Also threads about iconic characters are allowed.

So is there a set of guidelines listed somewhere regarding what we can and cannot post? I think it's a little bit ridiculous that we're not supposed to start threads about novels. The reason I say this is because to me it seems to be the novels that progress the storyline so the Dragonlance setting seems largely based on what is written in the novels. I could be wrong since I don't game; I just read the novels.
I personally would like to see threads discussing the novels since that's the only way I get my Dragonlance fix. I liked the "what did you think of this book" type threads. Anyway, if someone could let me know exactly what the guidelines are that would be cool.

I think that's a screw up...but looks like it's gonna get printed that way now. Cause if you'll notice...the format is the same for the Tales from the War of Souls anthology (Search for Magic and Players of Gilean...even the title kind of matches Search for Power)

I think it's quite ridiculous myself as I've always seen the novels as the DL canon and the gaming material as a side product.

Anyway:

* It will be allowed to make references to novels when it is appropriate to the topic being discussed (e.g. If you are discussing “The Origens of the Moonblades” of course you will be able to mention “Evermeet: Island of the Elves.” As another example when discussing the nature of Cormyr as a campaign setting of course you can refer to the Sembia novels.)

* It will also be allowed discussion of the iconic characters who appear both in novels and supplements.

Or maybe the third one will have a different emphasis as well. We'll see.

Edit: hmm, I mean, this book, the third one...umm...you know. Doh.

I meant, the Magic book was about magic, and the Players about the players, so this one would be about dragons. At least I think that's what I meant.

I understand what you mean. So I guess it begs the question....

What would be the name of this series of anthologies?

The Players of Gilean, Tales from the World of Krynn.
The Search for Magic, Tales from the War of Souls.
The Search for Power, Dragons from the War of Souls.

Hmm, that's a tough one. The names are different enough to make it messy.

How about:

Tales and Dragons from the War and World of Krynn's Souls, Vol. 1, 2, & 3

Which, while it is your own personal opinion and your alone, is however incorrect....the games were what came first and foremost...the novels were there to support the game...And now the emphasis is on what it should be on....because the games have been sorely lacking in support...so what if WotC discontinued the novels board....at least we DL fans are lucky enough to have people looking out for us...you know...those nice fellows who created the DL Book Club....check it out at http://www.dragonlance.com

Except that the emphasis here on the forums already was on the games. The DL novel board was ten times smaller in posts and traffic than the main one.

I'm already on the Dragonlance.com forums by the way. I just liked the one we had here more. A lot more. More than any other forum I've ever been at actually.

True...the novel board here was sadly small....It could have been much more if more people would have shown an interest....and I do agree....I did like it better....Its not that I dont like the new forums...I guess I have just been frequenting these DL boards here so long that they feel more like home. I might have to seriously consider trying a little harder to go with the new boards...we'll see

Good one

But how about plain and simple: "the 5th age anthologies"

This would be true if not for the fact that by the middle of Dragons of Winter Night, the novels took control of the story over the game modules.

And the novels have been in control ever since. Plus, the novel line hasn't "died" a couple of times.

And now the emphasis is on what it should be on

Could have fooled me. The novels are still in control.

Yes, so what that the novel readers vastly outnumber the gamers.

So much so that WotC wouldn't even attempt a 3E edition of DL, but instead sold the license to somebody else.
Yet they maintain a board for what is, to WotC, a dead world.

Go figure.

I thought the other three anthologies for the 5th Age (Heroes & Fools, etc) were going by that title?

First of all....I dont know how truly accurate that might be....As far as outright message boards went here on WotC there could be a solid week go by without a novels board post...but the gaming board went strong every day....and was posted on by many many more people than the novel board....I know that isnt a truly accurate showing of fans...but it does say something about who used what boards...and it was obvious that the novel board wasnt nearly as active as the gaming line boards...But that is a moot point...its gone now....Seriously...Im on your side about it...I actually really liked the novel board...It was nice when you wanted to escape the typical flame wars that ensue anywhere else...You could always find a civilized discussion there....albeit you might not find a new topic to discuss (ex. Raistlin Rocks!!!....Could Raistlin have defeated the Dark Queen.....WHat is your favorite character?...seriously...these topics just kept coming up....)

Anyhow...My main point is you took my meaning totally wrong...or you just didnt read my whole post....or you intentionally misquoted me...the basic gist of what I said was...so what if WotC doesnt have a novel board...dragonlance.com does...and it seems to be better than the one here....I was simply saying that there was something better for the strictly novel fan bunch

My bad, I totally forgot about them.
And yes they go by that name.

So what about Tales of a new age or something like tales of a new dawn / anthologies of the war of souls
