Is it me or is Mina starting to look an aweful lot like the Queen of Darkness?

Heck I am still reading The Minotaur Wars

I need to get up to date on my Dragonlance novels. I hope I am not making a mistake because my wife bought me The Minotaur Wars before The War of Souls.

You'll be fine. Night of Blood actually takes place prior to War of Souls and doesn't spoil anything.

When I saw the ashes and amber cover I was blown away, it is a great picture, although I like still like to "80's elmore style".
It's funny, The robed figure in the back reminds me of the old "dragons of spring dawning" picture, where raistlin is clad half in darkness and half in his red robe. (to show his change from red to black). I got the same feel about this one, an unspoken movement.

I wonder if he's the Cleric Majere that we've been hearing about? (or Monk...whatever).

I guess we don't even know it's a "he."

That huge "hand of God" moving the Khas piece in the back ground is pretty cool, too. (Margaret pointed that out on the DL-L)

Khas is a chess-like game that's played on Krynn.

I'm also hoping that that piece of (very fine) art is for some other book of the trilogy. Doesn't Amber and Ashed already have a (very nice) cover? The one with Mina shouting something next to Takhisis's body?

The way I understand it, that piece was one of 2 posible covers for the Age of Mortals source book. The other one eneded up being used and then this one was just used as a temporary mock up cover for Amber and Ashes, it was never intended to be the final cover.

The one you are thinking of was a mock-up cover for Age of Mortals.

However, this picture is a new one by Matt Stawicki, which can be seen on MargaretWeis.Com.

Well, Mina seeking to replace Takhisis wouldn't be a shocking story idea.

Wouldn't be an original one either, imho.

All I was implying was that it's not so surprising to see Takhisis' number one cleric modeling her new look after her goddess' last outfit (see the cover of Age of Mortals for a reference).

I have no idea what the book's going to involve, but from what Margaret has revealed it sounds pretty good to me.

So I can cancel my plans to have you hunted down and interrogated? That's good...

I wouldn't be angry if Mina ascends to godhood, it would be pretty interesting. That and Paladine could either return or choose a successor. Interesting storyline complex.

Well, this is DL, and one of hte biggest fears to have right now is the return of Takhisis (if you don't want that) or a replacement (if you don't want that either).

I guess I'm of the belief that she is gone for good and will not be coming back...ever. At least not as a Goddess. And I don't believe the book department will change their minds on this...only because Margaret and Tracy have been so adamant about her departure being permanent.

As for a replacement...I kind of expect a book at sometime of someone trying this...but it's not like Forgotten Realms where this is a common occurance. I mean, in the whole history of Dragonlance...it's only happened twice. Once with the Kingpriest, and once with Raistandantilus.

Of all people...I don't believe Margaret will be the one to "replace" Takhisis...mainly because she's too closely tied with the gaming aspect of DL now.

I guess...what I'm trying to get at is...I'm not to concerned about the fears you presented.

Not anymore anyway...

Is any one else bothered that shipping is 10 bones on Margaret's site? That seems like a lot of skins to me.

As for Mina "reviving" Takhisis or somehow becoming a god(dess), I don't think Margaret's going there with the story. The story is called "Dark Disciple," so draw your own conclusions there. The great hand coming down from the heavens moving the Khas piece might imply a lot as well!

Everyone always seems to make huge assumptions about where Margaret and Tracy are going with a story. Everyone thought in War of Souls that the Device of Time Journeying was going to be used to wipe out the Fifth Age, and that didn't happen! Wait and see.

As for shipping prices on MargaretWeis.com, there are different rates for U.S., Canada, and International orders, based on the retail price of the order. We were under-charging for a long time, so we had to raise shipping prices so we didn't lose money! We sell individual items at standard retail but give free signatures and personalization, and usually discount special "bundles" (such as the Sovereign Stone novel trilogy in hardcover). We also have the advantage of getting certain new releases really quickly and getting them out the door.
