#1iltharanosMar 06, 2004 6:42:59 | So, is there any indication as to roughly when in the month of March this product will be hitting the shelves? |
#2sweetmeatsMar 06, 2004 7:54:41 | Any chance of a contents list preview as well? |
#3zombiegleemaxMar 06, 2004 7:58:32 | We're just about to make an announcement regarding The Bestiary (a good one!) and we plan to release a series of online previews to lead up to it. Keep your eyes on www.dragonlance.com and you won't be disappointed! Jamie Chambers Sovereign Press, Inc. |

#6zombiegleemaxMar 06, 2004 13:30:26 | Originally posted by DmJoeSolarte Because material from that line of books is supposed to be campaign neutral. |
#7zombiegleemaxMar 06, 2004 16:10:57 | Originally posted by Mucknuggle The Players HandBook all but endorses the Forgotten Realms as far as Deity's go. I don't see how hard it could be to put in a paragraph here or there about whatever. |

#9zombiegleemaxMar 06, 2004 21:47:14 | Maybe it is because I was such a fan of DragonLance novels, but I really liked the way they did things as far as the development of the gods in DragonLance, that I think they deserve some mention. Add to it the constant "Is Takhisis and Paladine really Tiamat and Bahumut" question and you can see why I think they should throw out some acknowledgement of the DragonLance world, which I have to imagine is the best world as far as number of books sold. |
#10zombiegleemaxMar 07, 2004 4:08:59 | Originally posted by DmJoeSolarte No way should they do that!!!!!! That might actually mislead people into thinking its official;) *just had to throw it in |
#11iltharanosMar 07, 2004 9:22:58 | Originally posted by Mucknuggle It is campaign neutral, yet it isn't. The vast majority of the material in the D&D accessories is campaign neutral, but when they do refer to specific campaign elements (e.g. gods), they almost always refer to the Greyhawk setting. Interestingly, they seem to be referring more and more to Forgotten Realms examples nowadays. One only has to refer to the 3.5 DMG (e.g. Red Wizard, Gold dwarf) and Complete Warrior (e.g. Purple Dragon Knight, Thayan Knight) to see this trend. To get back on topic, here's a question for Mr. Chambers: You mentioned online previews of the Bestiary ... would these previews be similar to the KoD preview? If so, is Sovereign Press planning on doing cool web enhancements for all their future Dragonlance products? Thanks. |
#12zombiegleemaxMar 07, 2004 12:14:50 | Originally posted by iltharanos That one's easy: Yes. We're working to make sure we have cool previews and nice bonus material for nearly all of our future releases. Thanks! Jamie Chambers Sovereign Press, Inc. |
#13zombiegleemaxMar 07, 2004 19:11:57 | To me, it is kinda one of those CATCH-22 positions. On the one hand, the DragonLance novels have by far been more popular then Forgotten Realms ever was, at least as far as sales goes. Yet when it comes to the RPG, things in DragonLance are so static that no one REALLY wants to go against the history of it. I am always struggling on that, as I love DragonLance so much, that I want to keep thigns in line with the novels but still want to continue on with my campaign. |
#14DragonhelmMar 07, 2004 21:34:05 | Originally posted by DmJoeSolarte I'm going to start a new thread for this topic, so that this thread can remain on the Bestiary. Look for a thread called "Continuity Between Games and Novels". |
#15The_White_SorcererMar 08, 2004 4:30:23 | Pleasepleasepleasepleaseplease let there be stats and familiar rules for the kingfisher in the Bestiary. Pwease? |
#16DragonhelmMar 08, 2004 9:45:27 | Originally posted by The White Sorcerer Kingfishers make for the perfect familiar for a Solamnic Auxiliary Mage (which I'm guessing is your intent here). I've had a lot of fun using a kingfisher as the familiar for my SAM. |
