Mar 11, 2004 12:36:56 What is your opinion of the books that Wizards has been publishing lately. More specifically the following five titles:

Wizard’s Conclave
Wizard’s Fate
Dark Thane
Middle of Nowhere
Sacred Fire

Although, Wizard's Conclave hasn't been published quite yet. And the only one of those I've read so far was The Dark Thane, a worthy "sequel" to The Last Thane.

Eventually I'll finish The Wizard's Fate, since I started that recently.

Mar 11, 2004 22:45:18 aside from the unpublished one, the rest of them are definatly among the better DL books in recent memory, with sacred fire and middle of nowhere being just that darned good =)

Seriously...that is the law as laid down by the WizOs.....Please dont blatantly show disregard for that....it tends to get other hard rules thrown at people.

As long as WotC continues to show a blatant disregard for their fans, I can't say I'm inclined to care what WotC thinks.

Mar 12, 2004 12:48:21 Yah....but the ruling was put down from the Wizo's to not discuss novels here....I see no reason to not follow their instructions. Now, I dont like the ruling either, but it doesnt mean Im not going to follow it. As far as the link.....

Mar 12, 2004 13:37:05 actually, that ruling applies to the realms boards, because of flamers there. this board was held up as a model for how it is supposed to work. The wizos arent tyrants.

I mean I understand not wanting people to flame. But what would happen if people started flaming in conversations about The Forgotten Realms Campaign setting? I doubt they woulds all of a sudden state that no one is aloud to disuss topics on that. Anyone have more info on this? One of the reason I came here was to hopefully get into some novel discussions...

I have been told in this thread that we are not allowed to discuss the books in this forum and I have also been told that this is the proper place to discuss the books. Is there no place to discuss novels? Forum member have been helpful to me in the past by helping straighten me out when I get confused about a book or some sort of characteristic of Krynn. I would rather like to continue to get the assistance from forum members that I have found invaluable in the past.

Unfortunately, novel discussions are no longer supported by WOTC's message boards, as has been stated. Novel discussion forums do exist however, such as those on www.dragonlance.com where efforts are being made to include popular Dragonlance authors as well as fan discussion.

Why are these boards still up at all?

Game material can be critiqued just as easily (and as harshly) as novcel material, and the DL.com forums have a board for game discussion as well.

Let's just make it simple and eliminate this board altogether.
That way I have one less website to visit, and I don't have to spend my time directing people to what is generally a more worthwhile locale to discuss DL anyways.

Mar 16, 2004 9:18:44 My friends, I am as disappointed by WotC's decision to eliminate novel discussion as the rest of you. I have a hard time thinking of discussing Dragonlance without incorporating the novels.

However, we must respect the wishes of Wizards of the Coast, as we are all guests on their boards. When you visit someone's house, you follow the rules there (i.e. no smoking inside, use a coaster, etc.). Such is the case here.

Truth be told, I wrote the description of the Dragonlance boards a long time ago, and forgot to have that updated with the recent decision on novels. I will seek to amend that as soon as possible.

Also, I'll see if I can have a WizO put a sticky thread at the top saying where to discuss novels.

I would like to invite everyone over to Dragonlance.com's novel boards, and to the Dragonlance book club. Both are a lot of fun, and you'll be able to share your experiences and ask questions there freely.

There's more to DL than just discussing novels, and just discussing games. This forum can (and likely will) combine all discussions, so I don't think my contributions are wasted, which is why I still visit here.
