I am really new here, but I started playing D&D in the Blackmoor days. Is it still around?

Looking for gamers in the Red Deer Alberta area.

Blackmoor is a part of the Greyhawk setting.

However, if you want more of the "original;" Blackmoor, there is another company that is re-imagining the original Dave Arneson Blackmoor setting.

Well if your a Blackmoor fan then you might just be disappointed.

Blackmoor was made a part of the Greyhawk setting so it is somewhat different from the old Blackmoor campaign setting.

Now I would be extremely surprised if you didn't know this because Blackmoor was never really supported as a campaign setting. Just stick with GH if you can or start your very own Blackmoor campaign. I'm sure many people in here would like to hear what you have done with Blackmoor.

Actually, Blackmoor was somewhat supported by TSR in the middle 80s or so (not long after EGG was forced out IIRC).

TSR published four Dave Arneson DA modules set in Blackmoor. For details, see the Acaeum at http://www.acaeum.com/DDIndexes/ModPages/DA.html

More recently, Arneson was involved with the recent D&D Movie fiasco, and will be republishing Blackmoor with Goodman Games and Zeitgeist Games in d20 format. Details at http://www.castleblackmoor.com/ and http://www.zeitgeistgames.com/

Arneson also penned a limited-edition d20 module sold only at this past GenCon; details at http://www.goodman-games.com/DCC35order.php. It's been fetching solid $$$ on eBay when it comes up for sale ($60+)

I hope that helps. It looks like some new forums have been set up over on the Zeitgeist site, so you may be able to learn more there....

Well, I did find Dave's site, and, having sold my copy of Blackmoor one sunny day on eBay(along with Greyhawk, Eldritch Wizardry, and Chainmail), downloaded the PDF version.

If only I can find some gamers here in Red Deer. And, no kids.

FWIW, I can't wait to see what Dave Arneson did to his Blackmoor setting once it is published under the Zeitgeist Game label.
