The example Knight of the Crown NPC from the DM Screen booklet is flawed. How can a 3rd-level fighter have a base fortitude save bonus of +4?

its not only ment for fighters . quickest way is ranger 1 fighter2.
if yoy deside you want to get the KotS prc you are better off going cleric 4 into KotC. fastestr way in isnt always the best /shrug

But the sample knight is a Ftr3/Crown2. Impossible. While Ftr3 meets the BAB requirement, it falls short from the Fort requirement.

The other knights are also flawed.

Ftr3/Clr1/Crown2=BAB +5, Will +3. Doesn't meet the requirements of the Sword Knight.
Ftr3/Clr1/Crown2/Sword3=BAB +7, Will +6. Doesn't meet the requirements of the Rose Knight.

Unless the requirements in the DLCS have received errata, then these characters are impossible.

All three knights should have had one additional level of fighter (giving them +1 to attacks, +6 hp, +1 CR, +1 Fort saves, 2 ranks in Handle Animal, and the Cleave feat). Not sure how that extra fighter level got missed - sorry about that!

Cheers,

Just keeping with the DL traditions of misprints.

Ouch! That was harsh.

Still, when you pay something like $89.90AUS (I think it would be like $40 something US) for a book you do expect a higher degree of quality...

You paid AUS$80 for the DM Screen? That's a little much...

Whoa! I hope you are just mistaken about the price...most people I know paid well under half of that...

That sucks.

I used to run a gaming store back in my hometown of Auckland, New Zealand, in the mid-90's. Prices were pretty steep then, and last I heard they're even more pricy now. The current improvement of the NZ and AUS dollars against the US might help out some, but I can still recall the markup was pretty odious.

Cheers,
Cam

Whoa. And I thought our prices were steep when Age of Mortals was 53⁈. But $40 for a DM's screen? Dude, that's... Whoa.

Whoa man, I only paid $15 US for the DM Screen... that's a mark up of more than half if your conversion tables are correct.

The D&D DM screen is like 24$ so i think the DL one will be the same, i still havn't seen it and don't have the money to get it either, But I think the 86 or whatever the person payed was for the Campain setting, but I could be wrong and New Zealand just hates D&D and wants to weed out the nerds

Don't blame yourself.

Blame Dragonhelm. He did the proofreading.

I don't think that was truly necessary was it?

Ok, Ok, when I made that statement about paying $89.90Aus I was refering to the DLCS, not the DM Screen.

This goes back to a discussion a while back I had with friends concerning the mistakes found in the campaign setting. It is an unfair generalisation I have made and I am sorry for it.

In reality, the DM screen cost me $30Aus, which is like $20US. I suppose it is a little extra because of shipping fees, the Australian dollar and the markup made by all the middle distributers.

Yeah, but that is ok. Just as long as you don't become violent.

As to the NPCs having errors, oh well. I can never write my characters levels out right on these boards, so I can understand this.
