Jamie's already got them all sorted out, so you'll just have to see what comes up next.

Ah so you can give us a "Next week on The Apprentice" hint right now? Just kidding, nice work guys. I'm also looking forward to seeing a good artist rendition of a huldrefolk.

Good stuff all around.

I am wondering if that is a reference to something, possibly the next monster or whatever. I doubt it, but that is just me.

*plots capture of Jamie to "interrogate"*

Quick question though, is this sort of previewing going to occur for the Towers of High Sorcery.

I'd like to see the Wyndlass. It was always my favoute (and my player's most feared) DL monster in 2nd ed.

I don't think we have any "bat-monsters" slated for preview. That was just me being goofy.

We plan on doing web previews for pretty much every product!

I hope they have the undead skahnk or whatever that thing was that was just big and trampled people and caught them in it's ribcage....It just looked so damn cool Speaking of which, are there living skahnks or are they all undead?

I'd never heard of a living one. I always kind of assumed they were creatures from the Abyss...playthings of Chemosh's or something along those lines. Always undead creations.

Now...I'm not too versed on old AD&D 2nd Edition monsters...is a Stahnk strictly a Dragonlance creation?

EDIT: Changed to the correct spelling of "stahnk."

Im not entirely sure....The only place off the top of my head that I can remember seeing the skahnk is in the ToTL boxed set. And even in there it was a bit skimpy on the details...So I'm hoping that if indeed it is in the Bestiary that we will see a much better entry on what it is, and its origins.

But, as far as the sources I have seen, I would say that it is a strictly DL creation.

It's also in The Bestiary...uh...the SAGA one. (man...I just realized that could get confusing).

That's cool though. I don't have (and probably only looked through it once) the 2eMM. I knew it wasn't in the 3eMM...but there were several things left out of that...so I just wanted to be sure.

Yah, in the ToTL entry if I remember correctly there was a little blurb about the critter, and then a tiny tiny black and white sketch...

And I didnt know it was in the Saga Bestiary....I never picked that book up...I always wanted to, but every time I actually have the money for it, it isnt on the shelves at the game store....and like clockwork, every time it IS on the shelves all I have is like 3 bucks....

Yeah...that's usually how it worked for me in college too. I ended up special ordering it when I had the money so I knew I'd get it.

And I highly suggest getting it. I know SAGA's now pretty much snuffed out...but it's a great read. Written by Caramon and Bertrem, it gives some great info on all the creatures (I just can't remember what it says about the Stahnk).

Well...according to TotL it's a brother to the Gholer (which isn't listed). That's about the only bit of origin material it gives on it...the rest if fighting info.

The undead beasts (stahnk and gholor) are unique to Krynn. The stahnk's first appearance was in DL12 Dragons of Faith; the gholor showed up later. Neither creature was in a core AD&D monster product apart from one specific to Dragonlance, at least until the revised 2nd edition Monstrous Manual which came out in the mid-90's.

If I remember correctly, the stahnk was used in the Eye of the Beholder computer games, imaginatively renamed 'Undead Beast', or something like that. They were big, and hard, but not that scary, because they were slow. Actualyl, everything was slow; it was the things in huge abundance that were scary. Like the skeleton warriors... and I just realised that opening with an ice storm wouldn't ever work on them. Damn. That was my only 4th level spell.

"Undead beast" was the original name of this creature, before that became the overall category and stahnk became one of the two varieties of undead beast.

They showed up a lot in Champions of Krynn and Death Knights of Krynn, both by SSI/TSR, but these appearances came after the introduction of the creature in DL12.

DL12 was full of new DL monsters. More of them made their debut in that module than any previous Dragonlance module.

Sweet! Is there going to be like an art gallery on the website that shows some (or maybe all) of the monsters like Wizards does sometimes?
