I was going through my storage shed today and uncovered several boxes of my old AD&D material. Since some friends of mine had considered doing some roleplaying back in school I packed them up and sent them on their way. What is exciting is that I have adventure modules in there that this new group of people (even the couple of them that played AD&D) never have run through. My all time favourite module is Destiny of Kings and I want to go through that. I have the Sword of the Dales Trilogy which is also lots of fun (although I have never had a group be able to solve the puzzel in the weapon-mage's tomb). Another that was known as a classic in my old gaming groups was Bruce R. Cordell's Sahaguin trilogy. The Hero's Tale book was one that was used over and over again back in the day, and my Dragon Mountain Box set had been used and used, but is unknown to the new group. I have never run or played in A Paladin in Hell but it was in one of my binders. Not sure if I will run them as AD&D or just convert them more or less on the fly to 3.5. But good times are coming with the "old" new. Those were the days... -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 2] Author : WizO_Sinister Date : 08-14-07 05:11 PM Thread Title : Re: When all the old is new again... There's some nostalga in all that. For Instance: 1. I liked it when people thought I worshipped the devil rather than saying what they say today "Oh D&D, cool can I play?" 2. I enjoyed playing in a basement or place far away from society, now you can practically play it in the park and people look at you like your normal. 3. I enjoyed seeking out players rather than having tons of players seek out the DM. 4. I enjoyed staple bound adventure modules for $9.99 like the great ravenloft ones of second edition. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 3] Author : GavynnAlexander Date : 08-14-07 05:52 PM Thread Title : Re: When all the old is new again... There is a bit of nostalga in that and excitement. Bruce Cordell's Evil Tide has a history of slaying PC parties around here. There was that time when the entire party of five tied themselves together and then jumped into the whirlpool that sends you into the center of the earth for instant death. They thought it was the entrance to the next level. Hmmmm. Maybe this new group will have better luck. Does anyone else think Destiny of Kings is one of the best adventure modules ever written? To me it is a real classic. I will have to think about how it can be made to fit into Forgotten Realms though - well that and the Sahaguin trilogy. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Downloaded from Wizards Community (http://forums.gleemax.com) at 05-10-08 08:23 AM.
