Why is Silvanoshei so weak ?

Apr 05, 2004 16:14:10 This kid is head over heels for the nearly bald, relgious fanatic Mina. The book I am reading has him fainting over this girl, begging, etc.

What is wrong with him ?

Think of him as a 13 year old in love. He's young, naive, and easily manipulated by Mina's charms. Not that Mina is exactly an ol' pro at love by 18, either. But she's further along than poor Silvanoshei...plus she has Queen Takhisis' help.

Poor kid never had a chance.

Apr 05, 2004 22:29:34 I tend to think it was more the thirteen year old with a first crush sort of thing.....the sort of teenage love that is obsessive and pathetic...He really never had a chance with Mina and her goddess using that against him.

As far as his power level, he had been spoiled and kept from danger all his life...to the point of not having been allowed the weapon training that most all elves were given...it's no wonder the poor schmuck only ended up at 2nd level.

Apr 05, 2004 23:00:24 Well, you can't blame him for being spoiled. It was Alhana's fault. Both Samar and Silvan himself tried to convince her to let him have weapons training, but she wouldn't allow it. I actually think Samar was too hard on him. Here what it seemed like to me:

Silvan: Mother, I want to know how to fight and take care of myself so I don't have to depend on you and be a wuss.

Alhana: No.

Samar: Stupid spoiled brat!

Alhana only instilled in her child a 'sickening' dependence by not letting him be alone and not letting him talk to who he wants. In another other word isolating him. The Silvanesti court did nothing to improve it, in fact, it coupled his feelings of isolation with a little thing called 'spoit brat syndrome.'

So you have a spoit brat who thinks he can get everything he wants, a powerful emotion such as infatuation or love (of which he is totally unprepared for) and godly influence. Wow...imagine the Will Save he would have to make on that.

I'm trying to recall all of the details, but it doesn't seem like Silvan actually spent much time in Silvanost, but more time on the run with Alhanna since they were branded dark elves.

o.O That is entirely strange. That happens to be a phrase that I use a lot as well. I guess it's entirely possible that we do know eachother somehow. Well....it's like this. Since Valthonis(Paladine's mortal form) seems to have no powers and is generally not believed to be a high level character at all, then we must assume that Takhisis' mortal form wasn't very powerful either. And after all, he did impale her with a dragonlance.
