Figure out how many rogues there are in the city, and then you can decide yourself how many of those rogues you believe are affiliated with the thieves' guild. I don't know if there are any references to any thieves' guild in the novels, but if there aren't you have a wonderful oppurtunity for being creative and making one up yourself. Perhaps you could let the guild be led by clerics of Morgion, who forced their way into leadership by spreading an unknown disease among the rogues, and only they have the antidote. You could give some of the higher level rogues levels in cancer mage (from the BoVD) and throw in the occasional Vermin Lord(also from the BoVD). You could make a CG thieves' guild that strive to rid Palanthas of the Knights of Neraka (great opportunity for using the Urban Ranger from UA), or you could make it LE, scheming to overthrow the Lord Mayor and take control of the city (certainly a lot of assasins in this guild). Good luck creating your thieves' guild...... |

Of course, where there is money to be made, there will be people out to collect it. I would guess that the new leader of the Thieves' Guild is probably Kael Half-Elven himself, the main protagonist of that novel. Though of course, I think we can all agree that he is not the son of Tanis Half-Elven and that his sword cane, nifty though it might me as a minor artifact, is not one of the wyrmslaying swords of ancient elven kings. Given the influx of elven immigrants to Palanthas following the conquests of Silvanesti and Qualinesti, that is probably where a lot of the new recruits will be coming from as well. This may ingratiate the elves with the Palanthians if they are still under Nerekan occupation, or alienate them if they are not. It all depends who the thieves' guild is a nuisance to. |
