Ok, for a rangers favored enemy, if he wanted to have a draconian or dragonspawn has a FE, would he have to choose a specific one.

For example, a ranger wants to make a Sivak Draconian his FE. Would he have just the Sivak Draconian asa FE or does he choose Draconian and would have it against all of them?

Same question for Dragonspawn

Actually, none of the above.

A ranger who chooses dragons as his favored enemy gets the bonus against true dragons, wyverns, draconians, and dragonspawn (which are dragons, not monstrous humanoids).

The DLCS says dragonspawn are monstrous humandoids ... error?

Only a little one. Draconians were described as monstrous humanoids once in 3rd edition (in the back of Draconian Measures). Dragonspawn used them as a kind of model (along with the half-dragon, which you can tell is an influence from a design standpoint) but while draconians were officially written up as dragon-typed in the DLCS, the dragonspawn weren't.

Honestly, I think it's no problem at all to keep them as monstrous humanoids, since they do fit that description somewhat (and it's what the DLCS uses for them), but given the draconian's type and the fact that half-dragons are also dragon-typed, the dragon type suits them as well.

Typing a creature can be difficult! Sometimes it makes no difference, but other times it's the difference between d8s for Hit Dice and d12s, or which favored enemy or bane weapon will work against them... one of those things that writing up so many Bestiary monsters taught me was that there are always at least two ways of doing anything.

Cheers,
Cam
EDIT: bad typing fingers, bad!
