well I dont know...its just me or some really important cities are missing in the DLCS book.
for example: the biggest city in abansinia, haven. I search all over for it and cant find it.

I noticed that too, thought when comparing maps from TotL and the DLCS, it seems like the Nalis Aren swallowed it. Might just be me though. ;)

That's what it looked like to me too.

But under the Abanasinia region entry it states that Haven is the largest city. So it must be there...somewhere.

its a shame...
the book is very strange...some chapter are very good and other chapters just seem to be beyond good when its actually one big disapointment.
but its a shame that the geography chapter is like this...its suppose to be a very important chapter that contains lots of information.

I find myself constantly referencing the maps from TotL and the 5th Age Saga boxes, which of course, are sadly outdated in both cases.

But we get by with what we have. Maybe the book Prisoner of Haven might have some answers when it's released?

Ermm...wasn't Haven destroyed? Or, at least, pretty much destroyed? For not paying taxes to Malys or something?

maybe, but in DLCS,Haven mentiened as the biggest city in abansinia. and most of the time they erite about the mortal age, so its probebly the most recent news.

what is the name of the book totl?

Well, the most recent news has Malyx long dead. Besides, she didn't really have anything to do with that area of Ansalon.

Though Beryl may have, I don't recall :/

TotL is Tales of the Lance, it's a boxed set that came out in 1992. Contains maps, a DM's Screen and a book (also called Tales of the Lance) that was full of incorrect info and such. But it's the one I started playing DL with and did right up until 3rd edition came out.

Oh. Maybe it was Beryl, then. I forgot which one owned which place for a minute(also forgot the Abanisinia was right next to Qualinesti).

Since they knew they were releasing the 5th Age Setting at the same time as the DLCS book, the DLCS book should have been concentrated on War-of-The Lance era stuff, and maybe even Pre-Cataclysm stuff as well.

Talinthas, yes you are right. Haven is not on the map, but the region entry states that Haven is the biggest city in the area so Haven must be there somewhere (even if it ain't on the map).

As far as Nalis Aren (lake of death) that is where Qualinesti used to be and I don't think (I could be wrong of course) that Qualilnesti was that close to Haven for Haven to be swallowed up when the Lake of Death was made.

Based off of previous maps, Haven was nestled between the two most far west mountains next to Solace. So start at Solace, go south along the mountain to the bottom of the mountain and then turn west until you get to the bootom of the next mountain and that is where Haven should be. (It ain't there, so just make a mark and there you have Haven).

Abanasinia's changed somewhat on the maps from how it used to look - the mountains don't quite match up to the 4th age map, for example (the range immediately south of the Lake of Death, where Qualinost was, used to extend to the sea and block off Pax Tharkas, which was a fortress at one end of a mountain pass) and cities and towns are missing, like New Ports and Gateway. Haven should be, as darthsylver notes, right beneath the base of the two north-south ranges to the left of Solace, about where the red line of dashes marks the edge of Abanasinia. I believe it would be the closest human settlement to Nalis Aren, which doesn't bode well for the people still living there.

Cheers,
Cam

I wont agree on that one.
its true that DLCS concntrate on thoes times as well, but they concentrate on the 5th age more that others.
!!!spoiler for the souls war!!!
!
!
!

you can see it for example in the deities chapter.
paladin mentiend only as a mortal being, what is actually true only for the 5th age.
and again for example in the geography chapter when some important cities are mentioned only as runies because of the malys.
there are no pre cataclysm maps at all.

the chapter "other eras to play" is too general, and does not provide ength information.

I f you ask me, the book of the 5th Age Setting is just expansion book that suppose to complete the missing knowlege in DLCS..
My only hope is that they make this book much better that DLCS.

While I feel that the DLCS and AoM could have been combined into one book, I don't necessary agree that the DLCS should be WotL.

DL has many distinct time periods: 5th Age, WotL, Cataclysm/Istar, Legend of Huma.

Jamie mentioned the possiblity of Istar & LoH books, which would compliment the AoM and WotL books nicely, with each book focusing upon things in those time periods.
