ok, I've been an avid fan of dragonlance books for years. I've been a D&D gamer for just as long. My DM usually makes up his own campaign worlds, but has decided after years of doing so he'll try an official campaign setting for something new. So far he's looking at either the Kingdoms of Kalamar (by Kenzerco), Eberron, or Dragonlance.

I've found info on Kalamar & Eberron, but can't seem to find any websites that explain how Dragonlance works (i.e classes, races, etc)

My DM said he needs more info on it before he decides what setting to use...

Is the Dragonlance Campaign Setting the same as the first two trilogy books (i.e kender are rogues, dwarves are fighters) or have they made it more like 3.0 rules where you can be whatever you want?

Is there a website I can find all this out from, cause I can't find it on the Wizards of the Coast site.

Any race can belong to any class.

You can't really do worse than to check out http://www.dragonlance.com and http://www.dl3e.com for articles, news, fan submissions, reviews and resources for the Dragonlance setting.

Cheers,
Cam

I would go straight for something like

w5/WoHS6/Archmage5

and choose your feats and skills around a really decent character background. Something like a LE elf seeking revenge on the minotaurs (just cause you are a black robe doesn't mean you got to wear the robes and the black... if that would cause problems in the party) just wear the red robes and keep the EVIL bit out of sight of the other characters. Could be great roleplaying experience for you all.

thanks Cam & White Sorcerer - so I'm guessing the 3.0 Dragonlance Setting for D20 is set in the "war of souls" period???

THose websites are really helpful but I can't seem to find a page in the sites that gives a quick FAQ of how the setting works....

Actually, to be accurate:
A) There is no 3.0 Dragonlance Campaign Setting. The sourcebook is 3.5.
B) It's actually set after the War of Souls.

the DLCS has information on all eras of play, however it is current so that means all the way up to 6 months after the War of Souls.

Chapter Nine in the DLCS is pretty dedicated to the War of the Lance (Chronicles, the first trilogy), though for a more in depth look at the War of the Lance a hard cover source book on the subject will be realeased later this year.

Keep in mind that about 70 some odd years of events separate the War of the Lance from the War of Souls on the timeline, and if you pick up the Dragonlance Campaign Setting you may be a bit surprised by some of the things that have happened.
