Help me out, here. I'm trying to reconstruct the far pre-history of Oerth, and I suspect (but am not certain) that Blackmoor was a great empire in a time long before the Twin Cataclysms. In other words, we're looking at:
.
- Creation of Oerth (War with Tharizdun)
- Age of the Isles of Woe (Wind Dukes vs. Chaos and Miska)
- (Blackmoor Imperial Era?)
- Vecna's mortal lifetime (and dominion in the Flanaess)
- Rise of the Suel and Baklunish, ending in Twin Cataclysms
- "Modern" era
.
I think part of my problem is the confusion between Blackmoor (the Greyhawk version), Blackmoor (the 70s version from CHAINMAIL), and Blackmoor (the long-lost version from the Mystara setting.)
.
WAS there an age in which Blackmoor was a great empire on Oerth? And if so, what was its technological level? Provide me with some references here.

The 70's Blackmoor, the Blackmoor in Mystara (which is set in it's distant past), and the upcoming Blackmoor campaign that Dave Arneson is releasing are all the same place almost in entirety.

The Blackmoor of Greyhawk takes alot of the places, events, and some characters from the original campaign, but uses a different map and history. It is also more of a recent empire in Greyhawk, probably being in decline for the past couple of centuries.

It's tech level was probably no more than medieval or at most rennaisance. Though some events may have added outside tech into it, such as the crash of the starship which the Blackmoorans called the "city of the gods" in the original setting, but in the greyhawk setting is a place of rusted out metal buildings with futuristic devices located in a warm "lost valley" much like pulp fiction novels of ER Burroughs.

Though there is an Oerth Journal where RJ Kuntz describes a city of the gods that is more of an abandoned futuristic and dangerous city, where most of the doors are locked and without keyholes.

Can you provide a link to any on-line repetition of the Kuntz material?
