I want to thank those of you who've helped me answer my trader-campaign questions, especially Nagypapi and mekillot. Now I'm thinking about turning back to clock a little for my summer vignette. Instead of setting things in Free Year 11-plus I want to go back to about 34 years to the year of Desert's Vengeance in the 190th King's Age (Free Year -23 if the calander calculator on the Rays of Life and Death website is correct). Anyhow, I have a couple of questions for those of you who really know your Dark Sun lore. I'm sure these answers are somewhere in The Wanderer's Chronicle but I just can't seem to find them when I need them.

I would very much appreciate any help on the following issues:

--How many slaves did each city-state have to tithe to the dragon? I seem to recall it being 1,000 per city-state. Is that correct? Furthermore, did the city-states have to pay the tithe every year or was their a multi-year cycle?

--How long did it take the slaves of Tyr to construct Kalak's Ziggurat? What was the part of Tyr where it was built like before it was demolished in preparation for construction? Am I right that it was mostly warrens and slums?

Cheers,

Yes, each city owes 1,000 slaves per year to the Dragon.

The ziggurat had been under construction for about 20 years, I think, but I can't find that in the Verdant Passage at the moment.

Great, thanks so much. If I fudge a little bit then I might be able to have my players' characters witness the first stages of construction--or partcipate in them if they're unfortunate enough.

Cheers,

From the Wanderer's Journal:
Of late, old King Kalak seems to have become senile. For the past twenty years, he has diverted much of the city's slave labor to building a mighty ziggarut (directly across the arena from his palace), claiming that it will protect Tyr from attacks by the dragon.
