Hey all,

I just talked to my local hobby shop about the Bestiary of Krynn and when they would get it ... so they talked to their distributor ... and then he laughed uproariously and said that he had no idea when the book was going to arrive and doubted if it ever would. So, when is the book realistically hitting hobby shop shelves? For those that were going to suggest it, no I am not buying it online.

He who wants his Bestiary.

It has been said many a time to go and visit your local Barnes and Noble late this week and pick up your copy. From what has been said...It should be there.

Maybe he did not see it when it was said many a times.

Iltharanos, You may be able to find the BoK at your local bookstore. Because I know for a fact that my B&N bookstore does not have it. I would call before I make the trip though.

Good luck in finding what I know is a great DL product!

Hmm. If somebody did that to me, hobby shop, distributor or otherwise, did that to me, laugh in my face, I'd take my money elsewhere.

I'd check out MargaretWeis.com and stuff. And then, when you get your copy in hand, you can go smacking people with it to prove that in fact did get released.

It is at my local store.

Acutally...I should amend that. I called them and they told me they had it in. I, personally, have not seen it because I haven't been to the store. (although according to the USPS...my copy should be on my doorstep when I get home) Woo hoo! :D

So never fear...it appears they're on their way to the big stores at least.

Have you ever noticed how RPG store owners and employees can be some of the rudest people you've ever met?

I know the Horizon Games near me...they used to have the worst people. Biggest chumps and a-holes. They have new management now and it's a much more enjoyable experience shopping there (and they're Dragonlance fans). heh heh

Ahh! Don't get me wrong guys!

I (person A) called my hobby shop (person B) who called their distributor (person C). Person C laughed at Person B, who then told Person A about the laughing and the lack of knowledge as to the Bestiary's release. Person B has always been nice to me (after all, I practically fund the entire place with my purchases).

Thanks for the info. about B&N. There are about 4 B&Ns near me, so hopefully one of them will have it.

EDIT:

GRRRR. Just called B&N, and it looks like none of the B&Ns in my area have the book in stock either in store or in their warehouses. They did say I could special order it though ... and wait 1 to 3 weeks. Damn. Where's my Bestiary?

Don't give the guy such a hard time. It was said that The Beastiary would be "on the shelves" on April 26th. I think Iltharanos was just checking to see if it was being delayed again.

I'm not. If a store owner acted like that, I would find another shop.

If I were a shop owner and the distributor was that clueless and rude, I'd also find some other options if possible.

I'm hoping the hobby/game store I visit on an irregular basis has the book in stock when I get back from my vacation.

The two gaming stores in my area have told me they're getting the Bestiary in this coming week. Although the books were sent out a week ago, it looks as if some distributors take a little while to get their stock entered into the system, take inventory, update their ordering sheets and so forth. I imagine this will mean most if not all hobby stores will get their copies in their next shipment of game materials.

Cheers,
Cam

My local comicbook store has it in. Since I had it reserved they called me yesterday to let me know they had it, unfortunatly I didn't get the message till after the store closed last night. So, as soon as the store opens in 45 minutes. I'll drive over there and get my Beastiary.

*EDIT* I now have it... its ooooooh so beautiful.

Lucky s.o.b.

I talked to another hobby shop near me and they told me they'd have it by mid-week this coming week ... so in two to four days I should have my Bestiary.

Does it have that nice new book smell?

Smell? Slightly sweet, like fresh high gloss paper, and happiness, the sweet sweet smell of happiness.

There are oodles of great things in this book, OODLES I SAY!

I can't even begin to describe how awesome the art in this book is, if you thought the Venom Draconian looked badass in the previews wait till you see the other four, hard to say which is the coolest of the Nobles. Overall I have to go with the Lightning Draconian

Really though the art is so great its hard to say which is the best. For those who said you didn't like the art in the DLCS, let me tell you I HAVE SEEN THE PROMISED LAND. My favorite pieces are the Noble Draconians, the Disir, Mewling Troll, Kani Doll, Traag Draconian, Skorenoi (utterly cool), Daemon Lord, Gholor, and the Ambient Tempest. Yes this is a lot of favorite pictures but no, I can't narrow it down.

Oh and the material itself is in no way lacking at all, just so much goodness in one book is hard to believe, though, I wonder why moose stats were included... but anyway.

Really guys, great job, all honestly says this is one of the best source books I've ever bought pound for pound. Oh man this isn't what I wanted, its what I wanted with bells lights and whistles in places I didn't know they could be put. I really mean it, this book is excellent.

Oh and thank you to those who convinced Jamie to put the Noble Draconians in the book.

Yeah Brimstone I have noticed the same thing at Horizon they where okay when they where Gamemasters, then horizon bought them and they became kind of rude but now they are pretty cool, if you live in houston I certianly recomend them over your other choices for friendlyness and helpfulness if not for completeness of stock. Still I always check there first.

Moose, I don't know, are elk in there? They are a beast of burden on Krynn, I guess you could use moose stats for elk if you had to. but it would be nice if they where included.

You have to have moose in the book. They're a Dragonlance staple! Actually, they've been in many of the original modules and we needed to provide statistics for deer so you can have a White stag, elk for the wichtlin's mount, etc.

Glad to hear the book's to your liking!

Cheers,
Cam

Yeah...Kemah area, actually. Are you from Houston as well? (I notice it says "Texas")

Horizon is actually the only gaming store I know of. There used to be one in the mall over here (Baybrook), but that was it.

When I first started going there...about the time Sovereign Stone d20 came out was when they were quite rude folk there. These days, it seems to be under better management or something. New store, new employees, larger stock than before. Much better shopping experience.

Although it's still like pulling teeth to get them to get in a decent amount of SS material.

The people at my RPG store are like that. I love my books to be in top shape when I buy them, especially when I am paying 30-40 bucks for them.

So when I heard that the v.3.5 books were dropping in 2003 my wife pre-ordered them for me from our local hobbystore.

To make a long story short we get there-after they were released- and they are like yeah we have your books and when they hand them to me the MM v.3.5 has this horrible gash in the back of the book(Probably from when they cut the boxes open with the box cutter.).

So I say I do not want that one I want another one and the guy tries to get smart. I ended up buying my v.3.5 books at another location and I stopped going there. They ended up calling my house(since I order alot) and asking why I have not been by in awhile. I told them why and they got their acts together.

Guess I'm lucky with my local comicbook/RPG/New Book/Used Book/generally every aspect of geek hobby you could think of store.

Good bunch of guys, friendly, helpful, not elitist in the least.

Woo Hoo!

I just got my BoK today, but the best part was the store manager was so apologetic about the incorrect information he gave me (the whole deal with his distributor laughing at him and saying the BoK wasn't likely to come out anytime soon) that he gave me a big (30% discount) off the book. So I got the wonderfully full color, fine binding, fine paper quality, mapped BoK for a little under $27. Today rocks!

One happy customer.

yes brimstone I am from Houston, I live near hobby airport. There are other Gaming stores Nan's( which is where I go if horizon doesn't have what I want) and Third planet( too expensive they used to mark up there regular d&D books), Phenoix just closed a few months ago, there are others but I have never been to any of them.
