Since Greyhawk was the recent default setting- I was wondering where adventures like: 'Forge of Fury', etc were located.

There is no "official" ruling on that. WotC's policy has been to use Greyhawk as a kind of "neutral ground" to dump all their new stuff. The taste is similar enough to the GH of old that they know the die-hard fans will at least look it up, but different enough not to rebuke fans of other settings.

The main consequence is that they can't pinpoint a location. To do so would mean giving references to areas and countries of the GH setting, stuff that would mean nothing to the younger fans.

Not to mention that ever since the RPGA got the Living Greyhawk going, WotC has avoided meddling too much with the setting.

Now that Eberron is coming out in July, I bet a lot of WotC officials would like nothing better than to bury GH once and for all so that their new setting can receive all the attention they wish it had

only the incredibly stupid ones... it is generaly a bad idea buisness wise to totally alienate part of your customer base.

Let's hop into the Wayback Machine! All dates are somewhat shaky.

1980: "But if 'Greyhawk' is only in 'ADVANCED Dungeons & Dragons', won't people shun it in favor of this 'REGULAR' Dungeons & Dragons?"

1983: "Oh my god! A new campaign world? Forgotten What?? This will be the end of Greyhawk!"

1986: "A setting based on the Dragonlance books? But won't that mean nobody will buy Greyhawk stuff anymore?"

1991: "Dark Sun? Oh come on! If this stuff takes off, they'll stop making Greyhawk products!"

While I believe Eberron will be even more of a flash-in-the-pan than Red Steel, Birthright (alas!), or Spelljammer, I doubt that it'll seriously impact this setting. Among other things, our fans are ten thousand times more crotchety and grumpy than theirs - so there! :D

I ran the 'Queen of Spiders' module by Gygax (the decent to the depths, against the giants, etc) in the early 90's and was surprised to see no mention of these happenings in The Living Greyhawk Gazeteer (the bubble over Istivin in Sterich, etc)

So, I decided to dm the newest, strangely similar adventure 'City of the Spider Queen' in Greyhawk as well.

I've decided to place the new drow threat in Yeomanry, with the players sent to battle this newest threat- the mayor of Longspear simply not having the manpower or resoures to investigate the recent drow problems (most forces still being in Keoland)

Actually it was noted in the Greyhawk Novels by Rose Estes, but every Greyhawk fan hates her works so much that anything attached to it they try and forget.

I on the other hand find her books to be poor, but easy to read and they do offer some insight as to what might have happened if Gygax hadn't left.
