To delve in a different direction from Talinthas's thread...

What was the role of Titans if any in the WotL? Also what was is their current situation?

Locations?
Population?

Thanks,

Titans only showed up in the very last SAGA product, Rise of the Titans, and have been completely ignored since.

Actually, titans appear in the Age of Mortals supplement, including a template.

I thought I remembered Titans being mentioned in the WoS.....only briefly and in passing, but mentioned nonetheless...

They are...not by name...but they're cameoed (can that be a verb?) in the battle where the dragons return.

yeah, i'm well aware of those two references. i think they're woefully underused, and given the way the story seems to be turning, doubt they'll ever show up.

but i'll be glad if they do =)

I think Titans are just fine after War of Souls. If Donnag is also Titan now, and also ruler of Kern, then all Ogre are basicly under their large feet.

It seems that Titan circles are very well guarded Inner Circle of elite ogres. Not every one is welcome. They only have choosen most powerful, or important persons. So...

Location: Both ogre nations. Probably most live in biggest settlements ruling normal ogre, but some in more isolated locations doing their evil Slay-very-many-elves-tests/magic. Like, if I remember right, was Dauroths headquarters in Rise of the Titans.

Population: Very small. Maybe 10-20...

Don't get me wrong, Tal...I agree with you 100% on this one.

There have been three teases, and everytime it fell flat. There was the short story about the Ogres getting smarter...I thought for sure it was hinting at the Titans...but nothing.

Then there was the War of Souls. A good portion of the build up in the first book was a war between the exiled elves and the over smart ogres. Again...I thought for sure we'll see them...given what they are, they'd play a big part in the War of Souls...again, nothing.

Then there is the Minotaur Wars, and the ogres playing a larger role at the end of book 1...I thought, okay...here we go. The Minotaurs are going to take over Silvanesti, and the special payment that was spoken of was elven blood letters...of course that turned out to be incorrect...but I still thought at some point, the Titans will show up. For now...nothing.

So, yeah, Tal...I'm feelin' your pain.

Titans are a pretty new creation right? I thought I had read/heard somewhere that they were more like the original ogres. So are they more original than the Irda? Or are the Irda still the best representative of the beautiful first-born ogres?

the Titans are what the Ogres want to believe that they used to be like. The Irda aren't true high ogres either; remember that they were corrupted by Paladine, and subtly changed.

So are there no more true High Ogres anywhere?

nope.....true ogres are now the ugly warty brutish louts that you see running around killing with wanton stupid glee. As far as I am aware there are no true high ogres....all ogres are affected somehow.

Danny, george stop reading.

Come to my campaign that is essentially one of the main goals of the campaign. One of the NPCs is destinied to help restore the ogres to their true form and capabilities. The PCs will either decide to help or to try and hinder the NPC in his\her quest. Another main goal of the campaign is to restore the elves to having one nation and of course a home...somewhere.

Anybody think that the main DL authors don't really like the idea of Titan Ogres and that is why they don't use them in their novels?

I think High Ogre do still exsist on Krynn. Their called Ogre Mage they are very rare among ogre's.. there basic stats are better then Irda. But this is just my personal opinion.

First, Tracy came up with Titans himself =)
second, Ogre Mages aren't high ogres, but they are closer than normal ogres.

There's the Mischta and the Nzunta on the islands near Taladas.

Mischta are a group of Irda ("Twilight Irda")

Nzunta are the sole surviving descendants of the original High Ogres (ie beautiful, magical, evil)

the irda, mischta, and nzunta are three descendants from them, sure. The ogre mages are throwbacks to them. but there are no original high ogres left, which is what the poster was asking.

Closer in smarts, for sure...but from my understanding...they're still brutish, hulking, and ugly as far as their physical form goes.

The hags are supposedly a throwback to the High Ogres as well...but again, like the ogre-magi, they're still brutish and ugly...just smarter and able to weild magic.
