Get used to it! ;) I'm a First Editioner, so all you 3:ers, 3.5:ers and 2:ers will have to join us at the Retirement Home for Discarded RPG's. We sit around talking about the "glory days", play cards, shuffleboard, nap intermittently, hope our grandkids call us, watch Lawrence Welk programs. It's the bee's knees! :D -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 4] Author : True_Atlantean Date : 08-27-07 12:48 AM Thread Title : Re: New Home for 3.5? We sit around talking about the "glory days", play cards, shuffleboard, nap intermittently, hope our grandkids call us, watch Lawrence Welk programs. It's the bee's knees! :D I sit on my front verandah gripping my First Ed PhB on Sundays, yelling at the kids to keep off my grass and boring people stupid by reminiscing about when we stormed the Ghost Tower of Inverness... But seriously, I've just watched the YouTube presentations and whilst some portions of the presentations made me grind my molars into dust, I'll reserve judgement until I have actually seen some concrete information to base a well-considered assessment. I'm sure that until then, the boards will be rife with innuendo and pessimism (there is actually already a 5+ page thread in the 4th ed forum devoted to feelings of doom and gloom). What I see as the good thing is that here is another game that I can poach the neat concepts from (ignoring everything I don't like) and add them to my existing campaigns. The one point that was raised that shows Wizards are thinking though is that the technology is an addition to, rather than a replacement for, the game. I'll not use it as I have access to a gaming group on a regular basis and there is nothing wrong with my imagination - but I can see applications for the VR Dungeon. Whether everything has been geared towards minis is another point entirely. Let's see what the deal is - I'm looking forward to discussions over here with those who, like myself, have many years in the D&D saddle, as opposed to a growing consumer market where novelty is valued in the highest. Hasnt this been discussed in several other threads already? I hope there will still be a forum for pre-3E D&D kept separate for years after 4e is published so that this one doesnt drown in 3E stuff. They should probably stay separate, at least for awhile after 4th edition comes out. There will probably still be a need for separate sections of the forum for the 3.5ers, (classes, races, DM stuffs, etc.) as it will take awhile for many campaigns to make the jump. ...Of course, I'd also like to see more detailed forums for 1st, 2nd & basic, but that's probably a pipe-dream at this point!;) -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 8] Author : True_Atlantean Date : 08-28-07 06:47 AM Thread Title : Re: New Home for 3.5? Havard I only frequent a small number of forums, so I hadn't seen this one come up. I do agree that they should be kept seperate as the basic feel of the editions (and by extension the forums and users perceptions/needs) are also different. It is not a personal slight against those who like 3.0/3.5 and will continue to play once the change occurs, but rather a desire to keep the ideologies apart. The Out-of-Print forum fills a niche that doesn't need 3rd ed content. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 9] Author : Extempus Date : 08-28-07 09:37 PM Thread Title : Re: New Home for 3.5? I give it no more than 5 years before the 4e people find themselves here... after all, WOTC has put out 3 editions in only 8 years, so... There is only one remedy for this then. Out-of-print should become the default main forum for WotC in anticpation of everyone eventually joining us. :D -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 11] Author : Handsome Stranger Date : 08-30-07 07:58 AM Thread Title : Re: New Home for 3.5? Well, if the forum includes things which clearly aren't D&D like Star Frontiers, Boot Hill, or Gamma world, then there's no reason D20 Fantasy can't be here, too. Personally, if I was Wizbro, I'd put "3.5" into a "New and Improved!" forum which has a nominal fee.... -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Downloaded from Wizards Community (http://forums.gleemax.com) at 05-10-08 08:22 AM.
