Boards work for me.

As long as the game is a Dark Sun game I don't see them having an issue with us posting info here about it.

It's ok with me, it'll be easier this way

Maybe the mod might let us create a post dedicated to this and give it a "sticky" status

Ok, if it were suggested a date. I wouldnt mind if we could do this in the beginning of July. That way, I might be able to DM and prepare something interesting. What do you think?

Would that work?

Hmm, wonder how much of a pain it is to be able to hang out in Quebec for a day or two, hehe.

Probably still have to get a passport and such I assume.

Pfff, yeah right. We'll smuggle you, Nyt! :D

Seriously, I have family in the states, and I vist at least once a year for about a week at a time. No passport needed. Of course, if you come by plane, that's another thing, but that would be the extent of what is needed.

Ok, I'll update the thread.

LOL.

It's ok, I don't worship a meaningless piece of cloth that is immortalized as a symbol of freedom or something, hehe.

Never did much on the 4th, and it would be an excuse to see at least more of the continent I live on, lol.

Will definately consider it, don't know a lick of French though (going to school for that soon though), so I don't want to ruin your guy's fun if it's going to be a mostly french speaking game.

No matter Nyt, just play a character who doesn't speak common, and you'll be right in character! :D

Seriously, didn't think about that. I don't mind doing the game in english though, even though I never did that. My spoken English is almost perfect, though, but I don't know about the others...

LOL!

That reminds me, I played a character once that didn't know common, just his racial language, and at the time I was learning Latin, so I just spoke that fo his racial language, was pretty interesting.

Like I said, if it's doable, I'll consider it more, if not, no biggie. Hell I may comp up anyways just to check the place out.

As for doing it in English.. My english isn't perfect, but I'm working on it. I'd say I can handle myself pretty well however.. I only need practice.. And it would be a good one.. hehe

3rd and 4th of july... too soon for me, I'll still be in France. I'll be back on july 17th, rigth on time for the two weeks of the construction holidays ...shouldn't we do this during those two weeks, there are more chance that we can get a few day off. Otherwise, I'll try to get on the next game session, if there's any!

As for playing in english this is fine with me as I need to practice more often.

Yeah that's what I remembered. I also think there was something with the dates after july 24 for Grummore, so that leaves little room.

Anyways, when someone said july, I just took my calender and proposed the first week end there. I have no trouble putting this on the 17-18 or 24-25.

Could you guys comment on those dates? If you can't be there on one of them, say so, and when we have all the info, I'll call a vote on the first post.

BTW, note that even if we can't all be there, there's no reason we couldn't repeat the experience (even if Nyt probably won't make the trip twice!). That way it could allow everyone interested to be there at least for one game, and the luckier ones for more.

Still waiting boss answer. BUT, I can handle english pretty well. Although, I am not perfect. But this could be a good moment to learn fast And get some edge to my english.

The why it must not be in the end of july or after that (for some time) it's because my girlfriend will give birth before or after, near august 8th. I will start working back about on august 24th and a teacher. Gotta have mucho things to do. After probably two months or 3 after august, I might consider another one. But not before.

But again, if you want a DM, a DM you might have as silly frog (still pondering it). If someone want to bring is ass as a second DM, I will be glad :D

Talking to Penn about what all I should expect on making such a trip, etc, so I'm highly considering it.

BREATHE, DAMN YOU!!! BREEEAAAAATHE!!!

;)

Ok, I have two precise questions to two presice individuals to determine the date.

Mordo- I'm guessing your arrival date is july 17th exactly. If not, or even if so, are you available for this game on the July 17-18 weekend?

Grummore- Are you available for this game on July 24-25 or is that too close to D-Day?

The later in juillet it is the better for me, otherwise, good chance I might not be making this one. Not that you should evolve the game around me or anything, heh, just letting you know what's going on.

Still trying to juggle. Oh well, at most I will still be able to make my MD trip.

Actually I'm leaving Paris on July 17 at 5pm and arrive in Montreal the same day at 5 pm ± ½ hour, it may be quite hard for me to drive then toward Grummore's house and play a DS game unless my PC is an retarded mul who fall asleep at anytime But if I'm the onlyone who can't be there then go on I'll try to be on the next game.

Well, ok.

- Considering that Grummore (and probably Kurkamor) are not available after July 15th,

- Considering that Mordo is not available before July 18th,

- Considering that this game is not necessarily a one time event (which would permit everyone to play at least once),

- Considering that Grummore's seems like a likely location for the said game,

- Considering that Mordo has expressed he can miss the first game and be there next time (if there is one, even if the participants change a bit),

- Considering that later in july is easier for Nytcrwlr,

I call for a vote on the dates for the first Dark Sun Quebec game:

A) July 3-4
B) July 10-11
C) July 17-18
D) July 24-25

I'd say I don't care for the dates, but then, everyone will do so, so I'll vote:

A) July 3-4 (Unless 10-11 would arrange Nyt better)

[edit: I edited the first post for vote. Note that I'll always edit the first post again with imortant information, so you can just check there to see the status of the game]

As I said it's okay for me if I'm not from the first game, as long as I can play in an other one. Also if there's an other game, will it be a sequel to the first, if so then I might create my PC and the DM will just have to introduce him by the end of the game. For such an option, you'll just have to give me the general idea of the adventure (where, why, ...) and I'll write a background accordingly.

Hum... Girlfriend birthdate. Ouch. hum... On another moment I would vote for 10-11, but 3-4 seem to be the only option for me. Although, I will see with my girlfriend. The problem is that the farther we go in the summer... my girlfriend may give birth around the end of july AND I approach the time where we gather the hay for my horses.

Well well well! Thank you girlfriend! What a baby can do hum?

Then it's going to be on 3-4 july? How about starting to wonder who is going to be the GM (DM), how many we will be, how much time we will play or stay, what's were gonna eat (I have a charcoal = burger, hotdog, steak and many more or spaghetti, etc.)

Ok, well it seems that 3-4 July works. And I believe Grummore's is the chosen location.

I'll update the first post with those information. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but until then, those would be official.

Well now that that's been taken care of, lets see about other logistical details:

1- I say we arrive Saturday PM to meet, chat and prep the game with intro for characters maybe.

2- Supper we order pizza: No dishes, lots of food.

3- people bring (go buy) their own munchies for the game.

4- We play as late as people can stay awake and in-game.

5- Next morning we can either chip in for breakfast or actually go to a restaurant for breakfast/brunch.

6- If people are still in the game, we continue playing until late afternoon. If not, we simply leave it there, and we'll do that again another time.

Does that work?

Just received an e-mail asking if I was Pennarin because I signed Frederick. Well no I'm Jihun-nish as you may now figure:D . And so, I should be on the list of those who are going to Grummore's place. ;)
I have a few questions of my own.

Should we create our charachters before the game session for aprouval or do we create them on the spot with the DM's aprouval. (we could send them to the DM by e-mail a few weeks/days before the D-day.

How do you guys like to play your battles.?? Figurines anyone?? I have lots of them which I could bring.

I wouldn't mind being the DM for the second day(sunday) That is if your interested to role-play in the Jagged cliffs and meet the long awaited Jihun-nish charachter in person(sort of speek)

Also, as a suggestion. To help our DM we should agree to follow what ever the campaign(the DM) want to lead us to. I know a fiew players who just love pointing their char. to different directions other then the one the DM wanted them to go. (see what I mean??) Of course there are ways to bring back the party in the DM's dirrection but that is sometime a assle for the said DM.

HO and lastly. Do you think a Half-tarek would be tollerated?? :D

May 20, 2004 22:34:58
I suggest aarakocra. Seriously, what can eat an aarakocra? You just fly higher or dive or do whatever. And add psion to that and it's over. Not a single monster on Athas flies or uses psionics. Not a one.

Oh, sorry Jihun-nish. Updating now.

I'm thinking when the logistics of the game are finally determined, we should decide on DM and PC characters. Building our characters now will just make them even more well done and their backgrounds will be more interesting. We'll have time to prepare our history together and why we're together and all.

Ok, it seems we've got ourselves a game! :D

Now for the fun part:

- Who's the DM, so he can prepare all the fun.
- What characters are the players going to play?

I volonteer myself as a player! ;) I'm an experienced DM, but I never got to PLAY in Dark Sun, ever. This would be a great opportunity, if not THE best opportunity for doing so. However, I can help if needed.

Like I said to Grummore, the designated DM will have to inform the players as to what is permitted: maximum level or combined levels, number and power of magic/psionic items (if any), money value of normal equipment, number of wizard spells in a spellbook,...
The ability to take Jon's PrCs would be a must. After all, Jon's document contains the Arch Defiler and Weapon Devotee.

I'm forgetting something I'm sure....

Anyways, so that the fun part may start, am I to understand that Grummore is going to be DM?

If not, who is?

If so:

WE WANNA MAKE CHARACTERS!!! :D

So, required info:

- Abilities: Do we work with points so everybody has same and ensure no one ''rolls'' 3 18s? ;) How many?

- Races: Any limitations?

- Class: Any limitations?

- Level: 3 or more?

- Money and Equipment: How much?

- Special rules: Base is athas.org, but anything else we should know about to make characters?
