A few questions about the KoN :

1 - Now that the deities have returned, post - War of Souls, will the Knights of the Skull accept clerics into their ranks? Obviously the majority will remain mystics, but clerics of Sargonnas and Chemosh in particular seem well-suited to the ideals of the order. Is there any firm ruling that Skull Knights can only be mystics?

2 - With the moons of magic back in the skies of Krynn, will the Knights of the Thorn allow renegade wizards to join? Wizards have no problems meeting the PrC requirements, and they used to comprise the totality of the Order. In fact, I can see some older Thorn Knights choosing to undergo epiphanies and switch to moon magic - the Grey Robes would after all benefit by having both sorcerers and wizards in their ranks.

3 - Obviously the vast majority of Dark Knights described in the War of Souls books do not conform to the Knighthood's ideals as laid out in the requirements for Knights of Neraka PrCs - they are a vicious, dishonourable rabble. Does any significant fraction of the Knighthood still adhere to the codes of morality and honour laid down by Ariakan? If so, are we going to see some sort of moral re-invigoration of the Knighthood in the post - WOHS setting? It would be brilliant if some future official game release looked at the Knights of Neraka, their dominions and their internal politics.

This is uncertain as of this time. Theoretically, one of the other evil gods, particularly Sargonnas or Chemosh, may take an interest in the Knights of the Skull. At the same time, they may remain mystics, as they’ve been burned by Takhisis yet again, and may have some animosity towards following any god. There’s a chance that they could use both clerics and mystics, but I don’t see this as quite as likely.

They may have the occasional renegade wizard, although the majority of the ranks would be sorcerers. Right now, the WoHS are on a huge recruitment drive, and the likelihood of any renegade wizards at this time is small.

However, I could see the Thorn Knights being on a huge recruitment drive of their own, putting a spin on the WoHS, calling them elitist and saying that you either submit to their whims or die (which, funny enough, is basically the code of the Knights of Neraka).

It would be nice if the Knights of Neraka returned to their honorable roots, but it isn’t likely. Nowadays, they’re no more than organized thugs.

It would take a charismatic leader who had a strong belief in the Blood Oath, Code, and Vision to bring everything back together. There would have to be some major reorganization as well, keeping in the good elements and weeding out the bad. Short of Ariakan himself, I don’t know of anyone who could accomplish this.

I note that at least General Dogah, as described in Key of Destiny , has true Knight of the Lily PrC levels, and therefore must be Honour-Bound and follow the Code and Blood Oath ( otherwise he'd just have plain fighter levels ). At a guess, how many other senior Nerakan figures would be honourable individuals with actual Knighthood PrC levels? A couple of hundred? A few score? Even less? It would be interesting to know.
