Need preliminary ideas on a Druidic-PrC

I decided this could have its own thread instead of lurking in other's threads.

I want to develop this kind of druidic warrior PrC that would require the Wild Shape druidic ability but that transforms it into a kind of channeling of the local Spirit of the Land/Guardian.
The character would gain increasingly powerful abilities while "spiritshaped" the further he advances in the PrC, probably a 10th-level progression.
The character would also lose the +1 spellcaster level so that the loss of further spellcasting abilities would allow for more powerful class abilities.
He would follow the normal druid saves progression but a fighter's BAB progression.

Here's what I have in mind so far:

- Defiler Scent, at will.

- Cleansing Fire: sheat of flames consumes defilers with a failed save (no SR). If save successful, takes xd6 damage.

- Spiritshape: +1/day per x level of Druid-PrC. Affected by the Allegiance to the Land spell.

- Gives stuff like Rage when in Spiritshape, by x-th level.

- More chances of sundering enemy weapons when in Spiritshape, by x-th level. Or perhaps all your critical threats with weapons and spells are successful.

- Smite Infidel against defilers and those that desecrate the land.
x/day. +1/day per x level of Druid-PrC.

- Gives SR 15 or 20 when in Spiritshape, by x-th level.

- Animate Features: A combination of Animate Objects and Animate Plants. The Spirit of the Land lends its life-giving properties so that when you are Spiritshaped you can animate the natural features around you to snag and attack.

Isn't there a PrC similar to that in Master of the Wild which focuses on the wildshape ability?

Actually there isn't. Nor is the Druidic Avenger from UA what I want.

Well there are PrCs that fixate on the Wild Shape ability, but its only so the PrC can increase the ability's power or diversify into what you can wildshape into.

Here I don't want to wildshape into a particular creature but actually gain abilities and bonuses as the local Spirit extends its presence into your body.

Wasn't there a 2E DS psionic power called "the strength of the land" which tapped into the local spirit of the land?

If I remember correctly it gave the psion a mirid of abilites. I use that a start for the PrC.

Yes, it was basically the 3.0 Allegiance to the Land + a 25% spell resistance. And it is my basis for the class: exploring how far the spirit can extend itself into your body, thus gaining nature-related abilities. Some of them are geared more toward defiler eradication, like the Cleansing Fire, Defiler Scent and Smite Infidel abilities. But Smite Infidel can also be used against anyone who desecrates the land, and functions as per Jon's Grove Master PrC.

Sounds like a cool concept. I'd take a look at the Blood hound
PrC (I think thats MotW). I think it would help the "tracking down defilers" part of your PrC.

(bump)

Mmmm...so, no design help?

I know this ain't the Prestige Classes Boards, but still.
If I transfer to that board I will probably get the help I need, but not of the kind I want. After all, that whole DS stuff is like Japanese to most people except us...

To be honest, I don't really use prestige classes. They can be neat, but most of my players just take skills and feats they want. Some have been interesting, but most are just filler or actually weaker than a counterpart that had just (using a favorite Bush phrase) "Stay the course."

I just think the whole prestige class-thing has gotten far out of hand.

I had never heard that opinion before Dawn. Thanks for voicing it, probably counter-current, I never suspected it was not universal love.

The bump still stands though...

Oh, I'm sure I'm in the minority. On the upside, I've made a few prestige classes of my own, but my players aren't partial to them (any of them: mine or "official" ones).

If I had one suggestion, it would probably have that Spirit Shape spread out over the levels a bit more; every two or every three levels should do it.

I personally love PrC's - I'm not fond of the whole class/level design, as I feel it is a roleplahing crutch for gamesystems - and I prefer a more freedom-based design, and PrC's can help open up possibilities that the characters don't normally have through just base classes alone. They also don't incur a XP penalty for multiclassing, unlike multiclassing Base classes carelessly.
