I have an idea for a PS style campaign. Tell me what you think of this:

The Setup
Have each player generate three 5 level single class characters. All three have the same name, gender, stats, and physical description but each with a different class and different set of equipment. Only minimum background is required and does not include the characters life as an adventurer. The play will be playing only one of the three characters (The are all really the same character, just as three different classes).

The Game
The campaign starts when the group finds themselves setting around a table when their heads finally clear up. They are wet and covered with oil and tar and suffering from a headache. They see that sitting at the table with them is an erinyes and an archon, both of whom are also wet and dripping with tar and oil and also seem confused, and a yugoloth, who seems perfectly clean and amused. As they look around the room, they see they are in a very large pub with Githyankis, Slaadis, maybe some lower CR fiends and/or celestials as well all the usual PC races. They have no idea where they are or how they got there. They don't even know who they themselves are entirely. They can't remember a damn thing. (Each PC is one of the three characters the player generated but the player doesn't know which. So the characters don't know what their class is.)

It turns out that they are in Sigil. They appearantly were on a mission of somekind in the lower planes. They were riding down the Styx when somehow or another, the boat was overturned, or destroyed, or something, and the whole group fell in. The yugoloth at the table claims to have rescued them just moments ago and brought them here but claims ignorance as to how they wound up in the Styx. Also, the 'loth claims ignorance as to what the party was doing in Gehenna where he claims to have found them. Of couse the 'loth expects to be compensated for his services but doesn't expect it immediately. He says they have always been good for it in the past expects they will in the future as well.

As the group tries to peice together what happened, through rumors and just listening around the can figure out that several different groups, fiendish, celestial, and some 'neutral' groups, are looking for the party. Some groups are apparently trying to kill the party and they were hiding from those groups, while one group is apparently an ally and trying to contact them. Also, someone wants an item that the party may or may not have. But they don't know if they were rechieving the item for the person, stealing it from them, hiding it either from them or for them, or if they even succeeded in either getting the item or getting rid of it.

Unfortunately, for every bit of 'dark' they get on who's who, they hear something else that contradicts it. Because they can't remember the people that claim to be their friends in Sigil, they don't know who to trust and rely on and who not to.

To make matters worse, they just came from the lower planes and it's a good possibility they angered someone and so have someone on their tale as a result.

So what do you think? Any suggestions on what is actually going on?
