#1zombiegleemaxJun 09, 2004 22:05:59 | The future. Perhaps it has thousands of years, perhaps it has been millions of years since second coming of Rajaat. The world is green from pole to pole. The mighty citadels of the dragon-kings are nothing but mounds of rubble in a vast jungle. In this lush flora, lay the civilization of the halflings. Their tropical cities are indeed a splendor, however, if one looks up, they will see a true splendor. Like butterflies over a meadow in the early days of summer, thousands of Avangions dwell. Defiling magic is destructive. It destroys the environment as it also destroys the user of it. They will eventually perish. However, preserving magic lives on. Over the milleniums, the population of Avangions will grow and grow, until all that can be avangion, is. Only the Thri-Kreen, Aarakocra, Pterrans and Halfings live among the avangions. All others perished or become one. Each has its own lands and has no need to take from others. This is an Athas of peace. This is the Athas of the Avangions. I got that idea from listening to trance this evening. |

Professional help my be in order ;) Anyhow, jests aside, a nice interpretation of what could be if the good guys struck the metaphorical final blow. Not a likely interpretation granted, but anything probable is possible. |

#4zombiegleemaxJun 10, 2004 6:35:11 | Okay so I should try sid next time I listen to trance... cause Im not feeling what your sayin... So Lets see Before Rajat, before the halflings, you had Dragonlance... THen after the dragon wars Kinder grow up and learn how to make living items... Um they learned this cause the world flooded... Dark Sun yada yada yada.... Dudes propsed avagion theary, (Oh yea One of krynns moons was destroyed by a spell jammer, from the far future) K back to the theory, Peace is done, avaions become gods.... And now we are in the Forgotten realms... See how it all works... (Oh humans evolve from halflings again...) What do you think.... |
#5zombiegleemaxJun 10, 2004 9:14:18 | I kind of like the idea. I have an alternative magic system that would work very well with this concept, but never found a home for it. It could work as the history to another campaign world composed mostly of tropical rain forests, marshes, peat bogs, and cypress swamps. I don't think it would be "athas" anymore though. I would be willing to continue discussion/developement of this new world on the "homebrew" boards. |
#6dawnstealerJun 10, 2004 9:39:25 | There was more than just trance music involved, wasn't there? Let's have a group hug. Seriously, I had a player who got seriously ticked at me when they were ready to become an avangion. "I went through all of that to become a freakin' butterfly?!" Oops. |

Oddly enough, I have never been to a rave or done drugs. However, a stereotype is in order for everyone I met who liked trance, has done E, and is just a little weird. Any players in this world would be most likely either transported from Athas' past or from another setting all together. I could imagine a ship in a sci-fi game coming here and the players would have to interact with these peaceful, but advanced beings. Like a cyberpunk world meets this one etc. BTW, I am listening to the Passion of Christ Soundtrack as I write this, which I reccomend for a Dark Sun game. It has that desert feel. |

Heh, having grown up as a 'metal head' to a degree, I think I'd actually love to hear what brainstorms some of it inspires. Much of that kind of music has spurned many ideas in my head over the years, and rarely are they of the light and fluffy kind. |
