Has anyone out there ever had their campaign set in any of the 'Gygaxian' cys of Oerth's tymeline?

I mention this after labouring endlessly over which cy to set my campaign in...

I can't help it- the Great Kingdom/ Overking/ Malchite Throne stuff is just too cool!

I did. My very first GH campaign at that.

I was using events described in the first two Gord the Rogue novels as well as the excellent series of articles in Dragon Mag. about armies from various part of the world.

It was nice to have the Horned Society still around (as a "visible" nation, that is), and the frantic search by all sides of the 3-parts artefact of evil proved to be a good campaign background.

Oh well, memories...

I have also. Though mostly because at the time I started, there was nothing released post 576 cy.

At one time I was going to go through all of the From the Ashes and later stuff to figure out what things described in those books would have been like in 576cy, but life kept me from such geekly pursuits.

Same here, I played in 576 in the mid to late 80's, just because that was the current time for the setting.

I definatly have since moved up to 595 CY.

I set our newest campaign in CY 573 - the year Thrommel disappears. We're going to run through the old classics with some gestalt characters and see how they fare.

The party just met Thrommel and is heading off for further adventures. As the DM it helps to know how the next 20+ years of campaign time are "supposed" to play out.

I'm the only real Greyhawk junkie in the group so they are pretty clueless on future events.

ToEE is in the future and probably Maure Castle (the new one).

I really enjoyed doing the research for my 175 CY campaign, and then trying to extrapolate changes to the setting (less deforestation, Great Kingdom is still a force for good, revolution is brewing in the provinces, etc.).
