I know this has probably been asked many times, but are there any official combat statistics for Lord Strahd? Or maybe Azalin?

Sort of, from dragon #315. Necromancer 16 vampire, CR 18. The build is quite disappointing, if you ask me.

I don't know any of Azalin for v3.5. But in 2E, I think he's wiz18? But he became a demilich in Lord of the Necropolis... But S&S Ravenloft brought him back as a lich, I think.

Thats strange...I got almost an epic feeling from reading about Strahd. And ideas on a good layout for him? (Class levels, stats, etc)

Strahd IMAGE(http://www.geocities.com/malusblack/Vampire_Smiley_Brown.txt) is fully detailed in the Ravenloft Gazetteer Volume 1, while Azalin IMAGE(http://www.geocities.com/malusblack/Azalin_Rex_Brown.txt) is detailed in the Ravenloft Gazetteer Volume 2.

Well, according to the Gazetteer he is a 4th level fighter, 16th level necromancer, so he is level 20. You should also keep in mind that "epic" does not necessarily mean "bizarrely powerful," but rather a way of being. Both Strahd and Azalin are some of the main influences on the way Ravenloft looks today, and their actions have created much of Ravenloft's history (the Apparatus, the Grand Conjunction, the Requiem, to name just the big ones, as there are countless amounts of more subtle results of their actions).

Lord of the Necropolis isn't canon, so you should just ignore it. He's still an 18th level wizard (he can't, after all, gain more power), and his true fate is detailed in the Ravenloft Gazetteer Volume 2.

Thanks Malus Black for the info. I'll be sure to pick up the Gazetteers to get the info.

A thing to keep in mind about Strahd and Azalin is that as NPCs, their Challenge Rating determines their position as epic or non-epic, since those are important for calculating adventure levels. Both Strahd and Azalin have CR's over 20, making them epic encounters. Yikes! With Strahd's 24 and Azalin's 23, this means that a 20th level party aware of their situation would still need to expend between 60 and 90 percent of their resources (this includes party members, mind you) in order to come out victiorious.

In most traditional Ravenloft games, fighting these two are bad ideas. It's really more thematic to thwart their plans indirectly, or have to confront them briefly before turning tail and running.
