So what do you folks do for spells with named mages from Greyhawk out of the PHB? Like Bigby, Rary, Mordenkanen, Otto, ECT. Do you leave them they way of do you drop the mage's name. Or do you give it a DL flavor?

Normally i drop the name. as cam said to me yesterday, Krynnish mages aren't as egotistical as their counterparts =)

I figure they don't have a lot of reason to be. Once you're in the Orders, your work contributes to the betterment of all of your brother mages, so slapping your name on it for bonus points isn't going to be seen as anything more than vanity press.

I leave them in. After all, there may have been an Otto or Mordenkainen in Krynnish history somewhere.

For some reason I thought that in Tracy's "Anvil of Time" he gave a list of mages to use. But I must be mistaken, other wise Tal would have probably mentioned it. ;)

I must be confusing it with another source, perhaps?

Some named spells, though, are not named by the spellcaster who created them. Some may have had the spellcaster's name added on after the fact in order to honor them.

For example, Magius' Light of Truth may have once been known as Light of Truth. After his death, the WoHS may have decided to honor him by placing his moniker on the spell.

There's two ways to go about it. First, drop the name. The other is to change the name.

Actually, I lied. There's a third way as well, and that's to change the name completely. The spell list in there uses PHB spells, but gives Rokugan-specific names. For example, either call lightning or lightning bolt (don't remember which) is known in Rokugan as Fury of Osano-Wo (sp?).

Or just leave them be like The Soulforge/Brothers in Arms did.

What, you didn't realize that Bigby was a Red Robe? ;)

What spell are you talking about? Bigbys crushing hand?
