#1zombiegleemaxJun 26, 2004 14:26:53 | As we all know, or at least those of us who have been playing this game for awhile, the original dracolich, Dragotha was mentioned in White Plume Mountain. Has there been any 3.5E information of even 2e information released on him? |
#2zombiegleemaxJun 26, 2004 14:31:41 | Any and all information would be of use |
#3zombiegleemaxJun 26, 2004 14:51:55 | A Canonfire exclusive? First one at the top. |
#4MortepierreJun 27, 2004 1:49:11 | Dragon issue #134 has its history and stats (AD&D) The RPGA released a pdf about Dragotha's lair (AD&D2). Oh, and 'Return to White Plume Mountain" has limited material about the dracolich too. |
#5zombiegleemaxJun 27, 2004 20:09:43 | Has anyone converted his stats to 3.5? Anyway to get his history? THANKS FOR ALL OF YOUR INFORMATION AND HELP SO FAR!! |

#7pauln6Jun 28, 2004 3:20:37 | I've started to convert his stats but only on a very preliminary basis. You can use the Dracolich stats from the Dragonomincon for an ancient fiendish red dragon, but I haven't got round to cross-checking with the module on the Wizards website and the stats from Dragon to see how they differ, if he needs any extra abilities and if so, how to justify those within the rules. It will definitely be possible to do a conversion, just a bit time-consuming. One thing though - the Dragon article places Dragotha in the Cold Marshes but the Return to White Plume Mountain and the Lair of Dragotha mods stress a link with Keraptis and place him in the Great Effluvial Swamp, near White Plume Mountain. Personally, I prefer the latter, since it is consistent with more sources, and there'e plenty going on in the Cold Marshes already. |
#8zombiegleemaxJun 28, 2004 10:18:13 | thanks! |
#9pauln6Jun 28, 2004 13:55:01 | Don't thank me too soon. This is all that I have so far and I'm not renowned for my accuracy.... The AC might be wrong - I reduced dragon ACs in my campaign since it is a low magic campaign and my pcs would never hit them otherwise! I can't recall if I lowered this one or not. Dragotha (Ancient Gargantuan Undead Infernal Red Dragon (34d12), LE, S39, D10, C-, I24, W25, Ch26, AC31, hp 270) Damage Resistance (20/magic & 5/bludgeoning), Spell Resistance 31, Immune to fire, cold, polymorphing, & electricity, Paralysing Gaze (DC27), Fire Breath (DC35), Death Wind (6 negative levels, Fear) (DC35), Smite Good (+20 damage once per day), Chill Touch (+1d6 cold damage & paralysis) (DC27) The Dragon article lists him as a former servant of Tiamat (I think) who was cursed by her and escaped to the Cold Marshes of Oerth. For some reason the article gave him more than two breath weapons but that is inconsistent with the dracolich entry in the Dragonomicon. The Lair of Dragotha mod suggests that he was defeated by Keraptis and remains inanimate in a hidden lair in the swamp near White Plume Mountain until somme fool adventurers wake him up. The stuff above is relatively consistent with the stats from the Lair of Dragotha mod. I think damage for attacks is the same for a normal red dragon except dracoliches can't use crush attacks. |
#10zombiegleemaxJun 28, 2004 14:07:38 | Didnt he kill one of her favorite dragons or something like that? |
#11pauln6Jun 29, 2004 6:47:05 | Something like that... or he spied on the girls' changing rooms for some spicy 'dragon on dragon' action. Anyway, the moral of the story is, "Don't **** off a five-headed goddess." |
#12zombiegleemaxJun 29, 2004 9:52:45 | Miclops should read that lost post. |
#13zombiegleemaxJul 06, 2004 14:12:42 | Any more information that can help me out |
#14grodogJul 06, 2004 21:29:05 | There really isn't a lot more info, from official sources. As indexed by Jason Zavoda:Dragotha (Dracolich)[NPC] |
#15zombiegleemaxJul 07, 2004 11:27:36 | One would think there would be more information on him. |
#16MortepierreJul 07, 2004 12:22:23 | Eh, Dragotha is GH's tarrasque. Everyone with above 3 in Int keeps hoping never to meet it :D |
#17zombiegleemaxJul 07, 2004 14:48:31 | I wonder if there will be a big thing for Dragotha like they did for the Githyanki. I wonder who would win, Dragotha or Ashadalon? |
#18zombiegleemaxJul 13, 2004 12:15:12 | IS THIS THING ON?? |
#19cwslyclghJul 13, 2004 13:16:53 | based upon Dragotha's 2nd edition stats (from Dragotha's Lair) and Ashadalon's 3e stats from Bastion of Broken Souls, then Ashy would whip his tail, however it is likly that Dragotha would recieve a power jump in a conversion to 3e, to make the fight much more even. |
#20zombiegleemaxJul 13, 2004 13:20:24 | that fight would be something to see! |
#21zombiegleemaxJul 14, 2004 15:03:40 | That fight would be something to scry on from a loonnng way away. ;) |
#22zombiegleemaxJul 14, 2004 15:09:13 | FAR FAR AWAY! |
