I have downloaded the original Dark Sun campaign boxed set and am wondering what expansions are worth downloading and which would just waste precious space on my hard drive. I was thinking about either City State Tyr, the revised Dark Sun setting, Defilers and Preservers, or the Dragon Kings, but I can't really make up my mind. Any suggestions? Am I going after the worst products? Also any adventure recommendations would be helpful.

I like to have as much information about a world as I can when I run it so I suggest just about everything. Slaves Tribes and Dune Trader aren't worth the money these days in my opinion but that may just be me. I'm also not big on published adventures so I can't tell you which ones are good for DS. The list of books I have and use for DS is:

Beyond the Prism Pentad
City by the Silt Sea
City-Sate of Tyr
Dark Sun Campaign Boxed Set (original and revised)
DS Monstrous Compendium I & II
Dragon Kings
Earth, Air, Fire, and Water
Elves of Athas
Mind Lords of the Last Sea
Psionic Artifacts of Athas
The Complete Gladiator's Handbook
The Will and the Way
The Wizards of Athas
Thri-Kreen of Athas
Valley of Dust and Fire
Veiled Alliance
Windriders of the Jagged Cliffs

So, like I said, just about everything has excellent information and is worth the read. If you're looking to start small then I'd suggest the revised boxed set and the two monstrous compendiums. Those are the only three things that you really need to bring out the flavor of Athas, especially to start with.

I suggest download everything (they're only 5 bucks each I think) and burn a CD, hence, saving your hard drive

Trust me, once you start getting into the setting, you'll want as much information as possible.

this is my first ever post, but i used run a dark sun campaign when i was in college. recently , my i decided to start another dark sun campaign. i started to download all campaign relevent material for dark sun from svgames. i find that having all the information at my fingers is a big help for players who have never experienced dark sun before is a HUGE help.

the reason i'm buying all nthe material is i sold all my old 2e material to make room for new 3e material. i must have been crazy or some thing.

I just hate PDF, (scroll down, across, then up.... its nuts) Give me a book I can read on the jon. Um I like the Ivory triangle set, since it gives you the whats up with nimbeny and gulg. Dragon kings looks good for higher levels, Psionic artifacts is cool, but it brings on a sci-fi edge... And you wont need Mind lords yet. Other then that my collection is small, and I dont read my PDF's
