I recently posted two articles called "Dragon Lore" on the MML dealing with Draconic History on Mystara. In the first installment, I included my theory on the creation of Drakes. Since I have been presenting some stuff on Drakes here lately, I figured this part might be worth reposting:

The Creation of the Drakes
The Dragons had not been able to win the Dragon
Draeden War without the aid of the Elementals Lords
and King Oberon’s Fairies. The Dragons recognized
this. In return for their generous aid, the rulers of
Fire, Earth, Water, Air and Dream (as Faerie is often
known) were given 10 dragon eggs each. From each
hatched 1000 young creatures of a new Dragon race.
These became known as Drakes, and are forever since
respected by dragons and remembered as the lost dragon
children. The Elemental and Faerie Drakes developed
differently, slowly becoming the Drake races we know
today. They often live among lesser races, but always
keep contact with Dragon Society.

Interesting. I like it!
But how do you understand the post-Blackmoor drake legacy?
Is this just the way drakes explain the matter to themselves?
Or maybe the hid the truth from the wise Tyrk-Tyrk-Hsuu (who is the source of this information in PC1)?
This option might make sense. Drakes are an elusive lot. They might have given the Hsiao only bits and pieces of information about their past - and he academically reconstructed their history in the wrong way...
