Conforming to the usual isn't normally my style, but what the heck.

I'm starting work on a DS novel. Not just a few pages of fan fiction (which is what I originally outlined), but a beast of a project. I've already fleshed out the first half a dozen chapters (but in the sake of the online world, they are shorter than usual chapter lengths), with about 12 pages of almost finished material. Seeing as how I have a few weeks left here before heading home with little to do, I should actually get a moderate amount of stuff done, hopefully enough that I won't lose momentem when I get home and get readjusted to the atypical bump and grind of NE Ohio. I'll be securing a real website once I get back as well to host it (and since most of the chapters are short, I'll post them here as well).

Anyhow, I have other projects that are about one tenth started that may jump to the forefront here and there, but not likely.

Well, that's it for now.

You too may have A.D.D or A.A.D.D. (if your old) Ritalin might help you finish those projects. Forget a book, right a screen play. and sell it to a big production or the Sci fi channel. But first make sure to take care of the legal aspect. That Is one of my projects, that I will neve see get done.

What he said.

I haven't delved too deeply into the legal implications of the open game licence, but before you commit to the project I think it would be advisable to make bloody well sure you're not just making something that will be either a) stuck in a legal limbo of unreleasability or worse b) doing free work of WotC who will pocket all your royalties.

Know your rights.

Oh, and good luck!

Ritalin is evil. It inflicts bminor brain damage to slow down the synaptic responses of the brain, in order to better "fit in" with the accepted "norm" as to how a person is supposed to think and operate. Your best bet is to do as I did, which is learn how to divide your time, and develop your ablity to multitask on dozens of different things. Then, you don't damage yourself, and you can find you are able to do a lot more things at one time than the "average" person.

I highly doubt that. That would imply that I start a project, and never finish it. Rather, I start several projects that merge themselves into one project changing in form and structure so as to appear vastly different from the core starting concepts, so much so that I could, if I had the inclination, go back and further develope the innitial projects. Sometimes, these projects lend themselves to manuscripts that I do not intend to publish for free, which then forces me to 'deconstruct' the original idea and rework it again, something that I am not very fond of doing (and the biggest reason why I still have not posted up my homebrew region of Athas; I've cannabilized so much of it for other projects and do not want to 'rewrite' huge tracks information).

But first make sure to take care of the legal aspect

There is absolutely no indication that WOTC is out to steal fan based fiction derived from their IP, or sue anyone who mentions their IP anywhere. It cannot be sued over unless the IP holder has asked for the removal of publicised material, and the party in question refuses. The work, though derived from copywritten material, cannot be transfered in ownership however, under any legal circumstances. So, WOTC could no more steal you campaign diary of 'what happened in my last DS campaign' than it could your work of fan based fiction, so long as you can prove that it was written by you. Technically, WOTC could ask for the removal of any mention of its IP in any publicised fashion, including these boards and others (even reviews, but why the heck would they do that?). There is also the standing of corperate image. Even if there was a legal loophole (which there isn't, just ask the fans of Star Trek who've been doing this for a lot longer than we have), what kind of sales could they resonably expect from 'legally stolen' manuscripts? Even accusations of theft like this can damage a companies pocketbooks across the board.

Know your rights.

And how. I have the right to remain silent, should I chose to waive those rights, anything I say can and will be used against me in the Court of Law. I have the right to an attourney . . .

I just did not like being a ritalin zombie, and taking a lesser form of crack to accomplish "normality" I have not been on ritalin in....4 or 5 years. And I swear my senior year when I stopped, I think I suffered mental withdraws cause that year sucked. Now my 12 y/o bro is on it, and has been for years, His mom (my step) thinks its great. I beleive that is part of what makes me different. And I only use it as an "excuse" when it would help someone like yourself understand why my thoughts are garbled.

Amen brother.

I have had several friends with ADD or ADHD get off ritalin this way.

Damn pharmaceutical companies trying to tell us what is right for us. I'm all about the natural stuff anyways.

Anyways, I stray off topic.
