I'm thinking of running a full-fledged carnival campaign and was wondering if any of you would share your ideas, or even better, your past experiences with Isolde's band of misshapen misfits.

Thanks to all.

One thing I've always noticed was that Isolde was also the name of Lord Soth's wife. Lots of interesting ideas if you want to incorporate elements of Carnival with a campaign set in Sithicus. The core elments to incorporate might be the 2E mod with the mirrors of Tinfandalous (sp?), and elements drawn from the novel Specter of the Black Rose.

Some of the cross plots would be (1) Azreal and the real mirror master seeking revenge against the fetch in Isoldes care
(2) The forces of Malochio seeking to kill members of the Carnival as well as the wanderers (3) Inza's great betrayal (4) the dangers of the salt mines (5) Isoldes work to allieviate suffering in the realm as the secret "white lady" (possibly as an experiment in toppling a dark lord)

Isolde might or might not actually be Soths wife (or the agent known as the White Lady - though I think she fits the bill pretty well). She might or might not remember her mortal life if you decide she is. But reports of her in Sithicus one way or another could send Soth flying of the handle or retreating further into himself.

Of course even if Isolde isn't really Soth's isolde, if spends considerable time in Sithicus its reasonable that the Gentleman Caller migh try to get rid of his most implacle foe by trying to convincing Soth that the Carnival Isolde really is his wife reborn (and needs to be dealt with).

At the FoS, we ask for adventure hooks in a feature we call Domain of the week. One of the first domain we tried was the floating pocket domain that is Carnival.

You can get the results in the Salon part of the FoS site - www.FraternityOfShadows.com

You can find additional material for Carnival at http://www.gryphonhill.com/carnival/index.htm . The Burning Man is particularly creepy.

also look at S&S's Creature Collection II well worth a look for Dark Carnival stuff.

One thing I would recommend using is a Vistani fortune teller (Yes it throws a random element into the game, but it also allows for character roleplaying too)

Or Better still, have the vistani join the party as an npc
