When does this trilogy take place? Are they good reads? Do they give a good understanding of Barbarian settings? Is it in Abanasinia, Icewall?

They take place roughly 4000 years in the past (about 3700 PC, I think...give or take). They are about the first human tribes and settlements out in the plains. These stories are about the ancestors to all humans (after their enslavement by the ogres).

And yes, they are excellent reads.
