I know I posted somthing about this earlier but now that pre-reg has been finished I was just wondering again who all was going to Gen-Con, and what thier plans were for it, I would like to know anyone who plans on going so I can look forward to meeting you there, that includes people who already said so in the other thread, and Mr. Chambers even though I know he is going to go, less than 18 days until it! I Can't wait I am going to post every couple days to keep this post near the top. I just wondering if anyone was throwing parties or planning any games. Or just wanna chat DL or even other fantasy settings. Thanks!

Last I heard all those that are listed at the site except "Scotty" James O'Douhan are going to be in attendance. "Scotty" won't be there due to his Parkinson and Alzheimers is acting up on him.

I didn't know Scotty was going to be there Chekov was on there but I didn't see Scotty. Either I missed it or you misread. Hmmm if he was supposed to be I'm sad now I hear he is an awesome guy. Very friendly to his fans.

Boo i just read you have to pay for autograph's stupidest idea ever, only one i would even consider getting out of all those people is Chekov and if I am pay 20-25 buck i better get a convo with him and him saying "Nuclear Wessels" What a ripoff Cam and Jamie and Maragret will do it for freem and thats why they rule, I'd rather have thier John Hancock's than any of the star comming any ways, dang people are greedy.

Tell me about it. I agree with you, Walter I would pay for but not for the same reasons. He was the best baddie ever as Bester from Babyoon 5. That and he great comic relief as Chekov.
Kirk, "How many fingers am I holding up?"
Chekov, "3."
Kirk "Name and Rank"
Chekov "blah blah blah rank, ADMIRAL"

Sovereign Press will be there, with lots of cool stuff going on this year. I also highly recommend Tracy's Killer Breakfast. I understand it will have a Dragonlance theme this year, in celebration of the 20th Anniversary.

I'll be at GenCon this year again. Weeeee!

You can find me and my wife at the DragonLance Reception and probably hanging around the SP Booth or you can find us tagging along with Trampas and Cam. I should also be running a few of the DL demo games being offered this year. Plus I'm sure I'll be at Killer Breakfast... I have yet to be killed by Tracy (at least personally)... plus if I get to take part in that Balloon Dual I won't be pulling any punches! :D

i really really want to be there this year, pending finding a place to stay. hell, if it comes to it, i'll (not really) sleep in the con hall, and borrow someone's shower =)

now to find a way to convince folks that i have a desperate urge to be at gen con this year so as to fund my ticket....

that being very unlikely, i guess i'm just gonna have to ask some kind soul to pick up a WotL for me =)

I'll be there, though I couldn't convince the rest of my gaming group to come along (You know, that whole going off to colledge thing.)

This is my first year, so i'm very excited to see exactly what goes on and how it all works, but i will most assuredly be visiting the SP booth, and who can miss the killer breakfast?

When is the Killer Breakfast this year? I tried to make it last year but the registration insanity held me up and I missed my chance to participate. I saw the last 20 minutes or so and it was hilarious!

Well, I wouldn't be surprised if WotC is footing the bill for some of the folks going to GenCon.

Others, however, often pay their own way. Or, the convention pays the people to come. This isn't cheap, and the cost has to be offset somewhere.

As it is, $25 for Walter Koenig doesn't sound bad at all. It was $35 for Sean Astin at a recently convention here in Denver (and another $30 for a picture with him).

The worst of the lot is Shatner though - I've heard at some conventions an autographs costs in excess of $100.

As for Jimmie Doohan, he made his last public appearance in June.

Even in the years when they tried to sell tickets to Killer Breakfast, you don't need 'em. It's open to everyone, free of charge--only remember to eat your own breakfast before you show up. There is no food at Killer Breakfast (except bribes for Tracy, however, and he's been low-carb for a while now). It's YOUR CHARACTERS who are for breakfast!

I have been sworn to secrecy about the specific subject matter of Killer Breakfast, though I can say that the storyline, music, and hundreds of dead player characters are sure to make it an instant classic for Dragonlance fans and anyone who enjoys side-splitting laughter.

So just show up and be prepared to have a good time. Remember, you live longer the more entertaining you can be at the gaming table!

Haha, Glad to see my post is doing so well sorry I havn't put anything on lately internet has been down.(Got beat in the last level, thank God for save spots) The more stuff I look at on the site the more i want to go see. True Heros and True Dungeon both sound really cool. Plus of course the SP booth. Hanging with Cam(who seems to have quite the following) the breakfast. Info on EPIII. Getting my WotL Source book and ToHS book. Sooo much to do and only 4 days to do it in, and to think I signed up for events now I'm not sure I'll have time for everything This is also my first year so I have several thousand questions and lots of harassing of Jamie and Cam and Maragret to do.... prepareing the list of questions, think I'm around 214 215 somthing like that.

Can't wait to meet some of the other people who post on here. Perhaps on our IDs we should put our Handles from on here so we can be like, "Hey (insert random poster here) I read your posts! (then either) wow I really liked what you had to say....or.... *punch in face* man your the worst poster ever... I'm personally am expecting a few of the latter. I'm not sure I fully understand this breakfast so I guess I better read up on it and get my act together. I'm a Vasko and that mean Infotainment. What is everyone looking forward to most?

And about the having to pay for autographs I still say Boo, say Shatner is worthless, and say bring on the more important people like Cam Banks Jamie Chambers, Maragret Wies Tracy Hickman, and most important me! Chris Vasko. I will be signing autographs everyday in and out of the convention hall. I sign everything from books to skin. On the occasion I'll even sign a bannana.... what have I done for D&D and SP or even DL... well nothing... YET I am hoping to freelance so this is your chance to get an advanced signature. Not to mention I am an all around cool guy!

I'm looking forward to running the DL Demo games. :D Those are always fun. But just my luck last year I swear that none of my players even knew what a computer was or had been online. It'd be nice to play with some people that have visited places like this.

Well, I won't be going this year...again. I think I've pretty much just given up on ever getting there. If it's not a money issue, it's a time issue. If it's not a time issue, it's a vacation issue. It's just too far away, and I'm too poor.

I'll just wait until December like everyone else around here for the War of the Lance product (as it will probably take that damn long before my local store will get it). It still hasn't received any Key of Destinys. (which is why I bought it from Margaret's website...but WotL is just too expensive to pay for shipping as well...at least for now).

I'm playing in several Star Wars d20 games, a Seventh Sea game, an Arcana Unearthed (or is it the other way 'round... dammit, it's Monte Cook's book) game, and I'll be trying my hand at Nobilis. In addition to GMing two sessions of DL. I'm also planning on getting a pickup session of the Avalon Hill boardgame Civilization going with some mates of mine I only see at GenCon.

Of course I'll be stopping by the SP booth frequently. :D

I have no games I plan on playing in yet. But I am going to be keeping my eyes open especially around the SP booth.

I also want it said I don't mind convos on this thread, it was part of why I put it up, I want people to talk and get pumpped for GenCon or let us know if u want to be there, and so on and so forth.

Has anyone done True Dungeon? If so did you enjoy it and can you tell me more about it I am very interested it sounds very cool. Also could we get a little more of an explination as to what this Killer Breakfast is or how it works please, thanks all!

Well Jamie tried to post somthing to answer my questiong about the Killer Breakfast but for some reason atleast on my comp its not posting right, so it might just appear out of nowhere, incase it doesn't I'll post it from my AOL.

The Dragonlance Road show is like radio theater, except done by live actors providing the voice performance. Some original cast members from the performance at GenCon '84 will be there, along with some new stars (a certain game publishing guy named Jamie Chambers, for instance).

Tracy Hickman's Killer Breakfast is a role-playing game with hundreds of players! Tracy creates a scenario, usually complete with musical numbers, and brings players up and hands them a character sheet. Bravery and luck help, but the best thing to stay alive (and playing!) is to remain entertaining. You have to justify how your character suddenly showed up in the middle of the adventure, then think fast on your feet to stay alive! Enjoy the music, the comedy, and the sight of hundreds of your fellow players dying in hilarious ways. In Killer Breakfast, it's your characters who are for breakfast! This year it's a Dragonlance theme, so be prepared for some major laughs!

Now i once again say that was per Jamie Chanbers. Thanks to Jamie for being so helpful. This man truly cares for his fans. Made time for me even though he was busy. Can't wait to do this, pure Infotainment from me!

Most likely since my wife will be there I'll be hanging around the dice (she loves dice), and reaper minis looking for a kender-like mini for her, and the SP booth so I can harass Cam and perster Jamie and the rest. No prob, can't wait to meet you though. Must be nice having a wife that games, how many people talked thier wives into trying it or how many were already gamers and thats where they met them I wonder sometimes? I find it funny some people make fun of gamers because they say we live in a fantasy world, but my question is, is how is acting any different from gaming? Your still roleplaying, just its more live action and already planned out. Thats why I laugh at people who make fun of SW, a lot of actors got started b/c of those movies and a lot are big fans openly admiting to it. Anyways back to GenCon, still wondering if anyone tried out True Dungeon last year and how good was it?

I did TD last year, and it was pretty good. Though there wasn't a lot of RP'ing. It was a lot a puzzle solving and quick thinking. It can start getting pretty intense. Ididn't make it all the way through, only 3 of our 6 teammates made it. Here's the website.

We're doing it again this year as the 3 survivors reached 2nd level. I'd recommend it at least once for the experience.

I just found out that I'm goning be put in Klingon Jail by one of the guys in my gaming group. A few years ago I put him in and then split . Sso he vowed to get me back and is putting a bounty of $60 on my head. Curses!!! I wonder if they can run in all that garb? We just finished our Sunday game and we were all sitting around talking about it. Now I'm all hot and bothered...err I mean excited and can't wait.

The session was pretty funny tonight. My wife the Elven Rog/Wiz, who doesn't want anyone to know she's a wiz shot one of the Ogres in the foot as he was just about to throw a huge boulder at us. Called shot she scores a triple crit, so the DM has the Ogre make a Ref Save to not drop the boulder. It fumbles, not once but twice, and drops it on his loin cloth. So then, not only does it have an arrow pinning it to the ground through the foor but it loses it underwear as well. Then the fun really got going.

Great theres going to be a Klingon jail there sweet! I havn't been in one of thme since i was like 11 or so. That was at a Star Trek Convention and I said i hated Klingons, guy picked me up off the ground by my shirt he was like 7foot tall too! well seemed like it then but I was also really short. That memory will stick with me forever! I loved it.

Thanks for the knowledge about True Dungeon, can't wait to try it.

I love how DMs add in commical stuff, we always find some way to spruce up the fights like that, I should tell yea about the one d6 Star Wars campaign we had lol OMG was that fun.. If you wanna know the story I'd love to tell it! Just tell me.

Sup G Money? uhmm.. anyway... Fond memories of Gencon? I have plenty and I've only been twice so far.

Let's see... There was the infamous "Break-key" battle between Cam and Andre, The "all-halfling" game I played in, DMing the DL Demo last year and having a kender jump on the back of a flying Wyvern. (BTW those things have like scorpion tales, not a good idea to jump on it's back, heh). Uhm... The Dragonlance Reception was cool last year because I got to sit up front and see the audience, heh. Meeting people you've spoke to online is always interesting, I met the guy that runs Raistland he was asking Margaret about her official stance on Raistlin's Daughter, heh. Killer Breakfast is always memoriable. I gave up my seat last year so we could be sure Dragonhelm would make it up on stage so he could do his Montgomery Burns impression for Tracy. heh There was the guy that asked about inappropriate uhm... interactions betwen centaurs and irda at the reception last year Oh and the year before at the DL Reception Tracy dressed up like Fizban and gave a hilarious eulogy... There are just so many memorable moments it's just hard to choose... :D

Favorite GenCon moments...

GenCon '94: The look on Larry Elmore's face when I told him that my sister Stacy was only thirteen years old after he offered her a modeling job. (She actually did model for him two years ago, but Larry was extremely embarassed at the time because she looked at least twenty years old.) Sitting with Lorraine Williams and various TSR staff members at the RPGA Breakfast, because I got to hear what they all had to say about her behind her back!

GenCon '95: My favorite moment here was actually before the convention, because it was meeting and hanging out with David Baldwin--one of the most interesting and funny people I was ever lucky enough to meet. I also got to tour the TSR building on Sheridan Springs Road in Lake Geneva and spend time with my friends Dave Gross and Barbara Young, and met my hero Roger Moore!

GenCon '96: The first test screening of the GODZILLALANCE movie! Visiting Margaret in the BIRTHRIGHT Jail 'n Bail and having her sign a copy of Dragons of Summer Flame for my girlfriend.

GenCon '97: My first year as an exhibitor, working the STARSHIELD booth! My daughter Elizabeth was dubbed the "youngest exhibitor ever" at the age of three months. I had an amazing time working and playing with Tracy and Angel Hickman as we promoted the unrealized dream that was STARSHIELD.

I could go on and on here. I've had so many amazing memories at GenCon I could probably write a book with each year as a long chapter. Last year it was probably coming back from Chicago with a van-full of Age of Mortals freshly rescued from customs and arriving at the Dragonlance Fan Reception to a wildly cheering crowd. I love meeting new people and spending time with old friends I only get to see once or twice a year.

See you at the show!

I’ve got a lot of GenCon memories, and it’s hard to pick a favorite.

One of my faves was the killer breakfast Sean was talking about. There was a guy who got up there who said he was going to be the world’s most perfect kender. Meanwhile, the rest of us are all pointing at Sean and clearing our throats.

The Montgomery Burns thing went something like this.

Tracy: How did you get here?
Trampas (as Burns): Smithers! Who is this man asking me questions?
Trampas (as Smithers): Uh, that’s Tracy Hickman, sir. Sector 7-G.
Trampas (as Burns): Hickman, eh?

Tracy doubled over laughing.

We won’t go over the almighty Pooh.

Another of my favorites was the first GenCon I went to, where Tracy recognized the Whitestone Council and their efforts for keeping Dragonlance alive.

Then a couple of years back we had Bertrem’s funeral. I was asked to speak there, and in character no less. I was scared to death, as I went on after Douglas Niles and was followed up by Tracy Hickman. Oh my lord was I nervous! A ton of people walked in during my speech as well. When I was done, I sat down and Jean Rabe said I was a good public speaker and that I did well. Folks, I cannot say just what a nice lady she is.

Then there’s Jar-Jar in the Little Bo Peep outfit. *shivers*

I also got to meet Stan!, who is a top-notch guy.

Meeting the Dabel Brothers was cool too, as well as time spent with Margaret, Tracy, and everyone at Sovereign Press.

I’ve had a lot of wonderful memories at GenCon. I highly recommend going at least once.

That is just cruel Cam. Nobilis and Amber are the two games that I'd love to run or play, and have no chance for the foreseeable future! I've even adapted Amber to the Nobilis system, as it's more elegant than the original.

Roger Zelazny is indirectly responsible for me meeting my wife. It's a long story, but Amber figures pretty heavily in there.

I recommend the Fuji disposable cameras with the 800 speed film. I've taken some amazing shots with them when my SLR camera was in the shop. They aren't the cheapest, but for the great price and excellent quality you can't go wrong!

Tracy is the best in the business at dealing with wholesale slaughter and carnage.

GCS, Bring a white shirt and I'll bring a couple extra iron-ons and I'll give you one when you ask. ;) If anyone else wants one post it on this thread before GenCon starts and I'll try to bring enough for everyone that wants one. Here is the design for the Kencyclopedia T-Shirt. If you have an iron in your hotel room you can put it on there at the con.

I can almost smell my WotL source book now, and feel it in my grasp. I can almost feel my character dieing at the Killer Breakfast.

Speaking of which do we get to keep the character sheets after we "die"? I have off a whole week! this hasn't happened since pigs flew back in Dr. Mario..... well see you all there! Can't wait to meet you all.

Really? I tend to think of you as half-human half-dwarf. Granted, some would say that makes you an aghar, but it's that oddball scent of yours that I think gives you SO much character. ;)

Yup. We're smuggling Andre' into Indianapolis in a crate marked "Advance Reader Copy". We figured if we just packed it with enough cerebral reading material, bottled water, and Elmo Fruit Snacks he'd be fine until we prise open the lid with a crowbar at the loading dock.

By the time I made all my plans (2 mos ago) all the event were filled already!!! So I was just going to bring my pack with the essentials and either join a pickup game or start one myself. If I was going to start one It'd be the Key of Destiny Into out of the DLCS or something off the cuff. I might as well go off the cuff the way my group plays, I'm used to it DM' ing them.

If you can get there Wednesday night, grab an events program and jump in line. New events have been added since the publishing of the original list, and you might be able to get into one. Also, there may be cancellations/no-shows. All hope is not lost.

Failing that, stop over at the Sovereign Press booth and sign up for a demo game!

Alas, I shall only be in attendance on Saturday. Marital obligations necessitated this, as it is a vacation as well. I intend to stop at the SP booth often. I do still need to find kender mini, else my future attendance could by in jeparody. Anyone have an idea who might have a kender knock-off, as I'm not skilled enough to make one.

Well, they aren't easy to find and you usally have to use a halfing or gnome figure. I painted a fig from Reaper of a kender female that I'll be using the DL Demo games I run at GenCon. (view the fig here) If you need a male kender I use another Reaper mini in my home game, hairy feet and all (view fig here )
