Wotc seems to have updated their product website, unless I really missed something earlier.

We have covers for:

"Blades of the Tiger" (Book 1 Taladas Trilogy)
"Lord of the Rose" (Book 1 Rise of Solamnia Trilogy)
"Return of the Exile" (Book 3 Linsha Trilogy)

The first and the last covers are pretty interesting.

If the cover of "Blades of the Tiger" is any indication, then they're turning Taladas into Dragonlance's "Oriental Adventures" setting. I'm of mixed feelings about that. I hate copying earth cultures for fantasy settings, but it does help distinguish Taladas as a different place than Ansalon.

"Return of the Exile" shows Linsha topless in brute warpaint. Given that the brutes were the enemies in the first book, I'm wondering how it will come about that she will adopt their fighting style.

I'll have to say it again as well... worst Solamnic Knight ever. Don't get me wrong, I have some fondness for the character. But she is a horrible Solamnic Knight. She is the as much an antithesis of a good Solamnic Knight as she can be without being evil.

How did you manage to reach that conclusion? How do you know the novel isn't merely set in the Tamire region of Taladas and features the pre-existing pseudo-Asian Mongol Uigan? The Tamire is but one region in Taladas, and is hardly indicative of the entire continent ... unless they plan on redoing vast tracts of Krynn's "other" continent. You're leaping to conclusions at this point ... it's akin to saying Ansalon is Dragonlance's version of Arabian Adventures because they cranked out one novel with a Khur desert nomad on the cover.

You're absolutely right, I am jumping to conclusions. Uigan... geh, no imagination at all. Stupid ripoff name.

Anyway, Linsha is still the worst Knight of Solamnia ever. ;)

dude, i knew that it was about the tamire just from the title. Blades of the Tiger just screams out Elf Clans and Uigan to me =)

and terry? I hate Linsha in every appearance she's made, so i'm with ya there.

Can't say I disagree with you there ... I actually liked her better when she was Lynn the Cutthroat of Sanction, hehe. ;) Ahh well.

Yah, that's what I figured. Plus that elf in the background looks like he could be one of those elf clan fellas.

The question for Jamie Chambers is: Will there be a concurrent release of the Taladas roleplaying supplement with this 1st novel in the trilogy? Or will it (hopefully not) be released after the whole trilogy has been published?

honestly? i think it would be better to wait. Let people become familiar with the setting first.

I don't know...Linsha...toppless...in blue paint...can't really go wrong there. heh heh

That's a nice painting of her. It bothers me though that Stawicki makes her look different in every single painting...it doesn't even look like the same person.

The answer from Jamie Chambers is:

There is no Taladas supplement scheduled for 2005. While we plan on a big Taladas sourcebook, it would most likely come around the time the trilogy is concluded. I'm excited by the new series, however. Chris Pierson is one of my favorite Dragonlance authors, and I'm sure he won't disappoint.

That might be a mockup cover. A lot of these books have covers that end up changing as the artist completes the graphic and its published. The mockups quite often look very much like finished pieces, however - the earlier cover of Ashes & Amber is a good example.

Very true...but this really looked like a finished product, to me.

Even if it's not...the covers on City of the Lost and Flight of the Fallen don't look like the same person.

......

Okay, on second glance...maybe it could be the same person, but the one is angled from below the chin line...so maybe that's why she looks like a different person.

It's hard to tell on Return of the Exile...being such a different angle and with the war paint and all. Nice butt though...I'd like to meet that model...heh heh. But that piece is signed, even, so I would think it's most likely the finished product...but I could be mistaken.

If I was Matt Stawicki I would sign doodles on a napkin, Brim, so that's no real indicator. ;)

Dang.

Still, if Chris Pierson's Taladas trilogy is a fraction as good as the Kingpriest trilogy ... I'll come away happy. :D

Thanks for answering so quickly Jamie, it's one of the coolest aspects of Sovereign Press and the new Dragonlance Campaign that we fans get such direct contact with the Movers-and-Shakers of Dragonlance roleplaying.

This is what I've been saying since I started posting here. Getting to talk to these guys is like getting to talk To Caramon or Raist, or Tanis, or naked Linsha. In anycase can someone throw up a link to these covers? I am clueless how to get to them and would like to read up on the new books. Thanks again to Jamie and Cam and Christopher Coyle, and Dragonhelm and everyone who posts on here even our local kender!

Would that local kender be me or just all of us in general? heh

Anyway, here is the requested link to the DragonLance Products.
