I am very interested in reading it.

Thank you

The folks of athas.org have it.

And they'll release it, as soon as they have the rules for epic levels sorted out, and after they've converted it to their version of Dark Sun 3E.

It's never going to be released in 2E, so you might as well wait with the rest of us.

I realize that they want to release the 3.5 version, but I want to just read it to find out the story.

Does anyone have that information?

Actually, in a very similarly named thread, made within the last, let's say.... month or so, Jon had explained that they are possibly going to release the first chapter of Dregoth Ascending before the Epic Rules are completed.

The problem is - the material that Athas.org has is... shall we say.... less than perfect. And, it requires some work to make it so. Rather than releasing a product in a very rough draft without having all the mechanics completed for it, I believe the idea is to get everything knocked out for it, so it is a one-shot release. However, since the Dark Sun Epic rules aren't developed (they are being worked on, however) for 3.5e yet, it is very difficult to release Dregoth Ascending - a *very* Epic adventure. There is a lot to that adventure to be built.

I understand your frustration, as I also would be interested in it for the story, but it's not possible - yet. There's other pertinent tasks on the Athas.org people's plates, to include updating the Core Rules to the XPH and hopefully getting the errata knocked out, and getting Terrors of Athas release, updagint Terrors of the Deadlands, etc. There's also the whole Epic rules to be developed. Patience (and sometimes, it may seem like an inordinate amount thereof) is a virtue in this, especially since it's not like the Athas.org people get, well, paid to release these and stuff. But it will all be done in due time.

The Dragon/Dungeon issues on dark sun published by Paizo are a good supplement/replacement for athas.org when their system and conversion falls by the wayside (as I feel it sometimes does), imho...

i'd try using these issues to help you along if you want to run it before it's made available for download...

Dregoth is one of my favorite DS characters... he and Oronis just make me smile :D

Does anyone on the board at least know what the basic story of Dregoth Ascending is?

I have heard that it details Dregoth's return from the Planes, rising of his Dray army, and how Dregoth leads his Dray and undead armies against a defenseless Raam.

Also I heard something about Dregoth allowing some demons from the Nine Hells to enter Athas....????

Any thoughts?

Don't know the exact detail due to it being under wraps. The
Basics are that Dregoth plans to sack Raam, and bathing his holy relic (either a gold or red dragon skull, can't quite remember which) in the blood of the Raamites. In doing so taking the first step to becoming Athas first god.

Thats all I know so far.

He did make a pact with the Devils (baatazu). In my campaign I had it that Dregoth made a deal with one of the Lords of the Nine, the warlord Bel (lord of the first layer) who in turn granted him the services of one of this general, Malphaz the Warcrafter.

The Baatazu ended up betraying Dregoth in the end in my campaign.

That seems to be a common story. The Demons betraying Dregoth.

Thanks for the info.

I know I may offense some people but to me that whole bit of T$R about mixing lower-planar creatures and Athas is ludicrous. Maybe we should get God and Jesus into the picture to. I'm shure they got vested interests in Athas; everyone else seems too. All that's missing is that the Spelljammer be revealed to have laid in wait all this time hidden bellow the Naggaramakam and my day will be done.

I don't find it that off base. I agree it should be difficult for outer planar beings to get to Athas but not impossible.

Of all the beings on Athas it only makes sense that Dregoth would be the one interacting with creatures from the lower planes. His history is deeply rooted to the out planes.

Sure, but then I would be creating spoilers all over the place.

However, if the majority of the people that post here want me to go into it more, I can on some level, and least getting the basics out the door anyways.

I'll get with Jon then and see if I can write out a brief outline.

Will give me something to do on vacation when I get back from MD in the early part of September. :D
