Who, what and where is he?

I know most of you don't really like the ToO novels (at most you don't use it as canon). I, for one, feel there are many inconsistancies (like Nibenay elven prostitutes who couldn't survive the mountain wilderness ), but I think many of Hawke's ideas were worth reading (eventhough he probably didn't research Athas much... understatement?). Nevertheless, the chances of using the Sage as the Wanderer in my campaign are slim to none.

So, then, who, what and where is the Wanderer and is there any official mention of him in 2e DS material other than his journal in the boxed sets?

Thanks.

Not really, if I remeber correctly, he's possibly not even a single individual, but it is a coolection of other works. Or he just is someone who did travel everywhere. I think he has a reptillian arm too. I honestly, never bothered to care about who or what the Wanderer was, because it's an insignificant, not even worth mentioning fact that even my players wouldn't bring up.

I see.

Thanks anyways.

I have searched old threads on the subject and found out that nobody knows much about him (except for the arm).

Next time, I'll search before threading... Sorry!:embarrass

That's the theory I run with in my game. I left clues behind for the PCs in one adventure to locate the Wanderer. but instead what they found was a repository run by the Order who collected journals and diaries across Athas and then redistributed them in the name of the Wanderer and had been doing so for for some hundred and fifty years. One player even took on the mantle of a wanderer, collecting information about different places and cultures for the branch of the Order (though few people actively work directly with the branch on it).

The guy with the scaled arm is said in the 2nd DS box set to be the Wanderer himself,. or at least one of many. You can find his image in in a few pics in the revised box set as well as the Defilers and Preservers book (on the cover as well if I recall).

While I think the idea of a single individual being the Wanderer has potential, the thought of there being many such people going by that title has even more. Still, there is no canon on it to go by, so if you do want to incorporate the Wanderer into your game, your juust going to have to be creative about it.
