Ok, I don't noramly play Ravenloft (I'm not a big horror person) But I DMed a stand alone call of cthullu adventure and my PCs liked the horror feel, so when I saw the oringinal Castle Ravenloft adventure I bought it. The only problem is its 2ed. Dose anyone know where I can get a converstion? Oh and if the PCs like it I'll download a copy of the sqeal from the Wisards download section, so a conversion of that would be usefull.

There's another thread here that talks about a "House of Strahd" conversion. The House of Strahd module is an updated version of the original i6 Ravenloft module that you have. It's still 2nd edition, however, but that's the module that I'm in the process of converting now. Actually, I'm almost done with it; I have (I think) two monsters left to convert and then some formatting. Should be ready to post the link here after the upgrade on the 24th.

If I got a cent each time someone asked me this, I would be rich by now ... :D

OK, I'll give you a little trick to check that out fast. Find a Ranger stats (there is always one around). If he has Survival in his skills, it's 3.5E. If it's Wilderness Lore, it's 3.0E.

To answer your question, the I10 conversion is 3.0E ;)

I have never actually seen the I6 module, but from what I understand there is no difference between that and House of Strahd except for the latter being a little tougher. House of Strahd actually gives you the option of using the newer, tougher encounters or the original, which were made for lower levels. Regardless, from what I understand, the story remains the same. As I said, I've never seen I6, so I could be way off base here; this is just how I read it. But if the story is the same, then the conversion should be good for both modules.

I6 is first edition AD&D. It's for lower levels than House of Strahd, there are different encounters (no meld monster, for example), and there were some slight tweaks to the map.

some other slight differences:

-In I6, Strahd is a 10th level magic-user (there were no necromancers or any other specialist wizards except illusionists in 1st ed.)

-It predates the campaign setting so there are no rules for horror and fear checks or powers checks, etc.

-House of Strahd has an error on the map of Barovia: the "north" part of the compass is pointing west. (I6 has it correct, obviously)

-I6 has some monster encounters that many would consider "non-Ravenloft" like rust monsters.

Still, it's considered the best D&D module of all time, regardless of what edition it's in. Converting it shouldn't be too hard, and you'll find it's well worth it to run.

I'm not sure if there is another conversion around somewhere, but I'm almost finished with my House of Strahd conversion. Actually, the text is finished, I'm just trying to make it look pretty now.
