There's one or two more, from 'Harbinger House' and 'Faction War'. The former is in color, the latter is in black, white, and tan. I don't have either of them handy at the moment.

How about the neat picture of Her Serenity in the back of the Planewalker's Handbook?

That is indeed a beautifull full colour picture of The Lady of Pain...!
I especially like the details: a lot of persons flinging themselves on their knees in pure horror and chaos at her mere sight...

The one that Shemeska linked you to is my personal favorite, and has appeared in all kinds of Planescape products.

Plus, there are some of Primus' works:

http://photobucket.com/albums/v35/Primus/?action=view&current=Dolores1.jpg (anyone ever seen Evangelion?)

It's very cool that we have our own Planescape artist within our ranks.

Ah, that's the same one that was in 'Harbinger House'. Very cool.

The image of the Lady that sticks in my mind the most is the one from the promotional video for Planescape: Torment. It featured a "skyscape" of Sigil, with her Serenity floating by.

To me, that single mental image captures the essence of the Lady, as something serene, mysterious, ineffable.

Unfortunately, since the video was not included with the Torment game, it seems like it's most likely been lost to the void...

FYI, she was dressed in red robes, with bronze-coloured spikes and face. Her "face", though was expressionless - almost like a death mask.

I've seen that before... and I'd swear it was included in some other game that I'd been playing at the time. It was also before I discovered Planescape and was even playing DnD, and was one of several things that snagged me finally.

A-HA! Thanks for reminding me, Shemmy! I'd forgotten all about that (in those days of yore, my 'Net connection was hardly good enough to download any videos). If you hadn't mentioned it, I would have mourned the loss of the video, never knowing I had it within my grasp all the while.

I went and poked around all my old Interplay CD-Roms, and finally dug it up.

It wasn't in Fallout. It wasn't in Fallout II. It wasn't in Baldur's Gate. It wasn't in Baldur's Gate II, nor Throne of Bhaal. It wasn't in Icewind Dale (althought IWD had a torment demo that did not show the Lady nor any cut-scenes). It wasn't in Icewind Dale II, nor Heart of Winter.

It was in... Star Trek Starfleet Command \

Talk about unexpected. Even after all these years, with expanded knowledge of Planescape from countless supplements, websites, speculation etc, the image of the Lady in that video is still as enigmatic and mysterious as ever for me.

EDIT: Here's a frame from the video (after a bit of tooling about with VdubMod and Photoshop)

Thanks everybody. I might settle for the colour scheme in the pic Shemeska got for me. Although i just love Primus's pic so I'm using that as my desktop background. it's so cool.

Those links you posted don't work for me, Rhys, but these should:

http://photobucket.com/albums/v35/Primus/DoloresChibi.jpg
http://photobucket.com/albums/v35/Primus/Dolores1.jpg
http://photobucket.com/albums/v35/Primus/HerSerenity.jpg

Primus is flattered in a very modronic way at having his art even mentioned in a discussion such as this. Primus gives a very confused quadrone a pat on the back sending it to Arcadia completely by accident

Oh, and my newest Lady of Pain picture. Its not that good, it was mostly just me playing with watercolors.

Also, don't ask me where I got the color scheme for Her Serenity. I just liked the light mauve, pink, and teal blue scheme. It fits in my eyes, but some people don't agree.

should someone be able to make screenshots from videos: watch the intro of "queen of the damned"! there are some scenes where akasha sits on her throne, looking like chiseled from alabaster - almost a copy of her serenity...

i tried to screengrab pictures, but either i´m too dumb or my software (windows media player & divx) don´t like to have screenshots snatched from a movie it plays...

Those links you posted don't work for me, Rhys, but these should.

The problem Rhys had is this sodding "You are leaving Wizards.com" page.
Because when you post:
http://photobucket.com/albums/v35/Primus/?action=view&current=Dolores1.jpg&origin=
It is in fact translated into:
http://www.wizards.com/leaving.asp?url=http://photobucket.com/albums/v35/Primus/?action=view&current=Dolores1.jpg&origin=
See the distinction? The file "leaving.asp" will believe that every parameters are for him, including all the ?action=view&current=Dolores1.jpg&origin=
part, and you end up with just
http://photobucket.com/albums/v35/Primus/
When one can find a paramless link, the problem is avoided, but otherwise...

By the Powers! We don't need this insane cabal of Wizards from some kind of Coast to be policing our fair city's portals. You'll all have to just journey off-plane by alternate routes (i.e. copy-paste the link into your web browser).

It could be worse, the Harmonium could have designed the system:

You're about to go to another web site that the Harmonium has no control over. Please report to Arcadia for re-education.

Funny, I always pictured the Lady of Pain's hair-blades having a structure more similar to that of human hair - sort of a swept-back blades look. Similar to Penance from Generation X (Marvel Comic Book)

Penance is more of a bladeling than anything.

Enoch Van Garret, I'm not trying to stifle your creativity, but there's really no argument as to the appearance of the Lady's blades. She's the sodding logo, for the Cadence's sake!

Here's the dark of it, cutter....I first heard of Her Serenity when I bought my copy of the Manual of the Planes, a 3rd-edition publication (I was a bit of a latecomer to D&D). In the exceedingly brief Sigil entry in MotP, The Lady of Pain is simply referred to as "a floating female humanoid with bladelike hair". Having just recently read Dan Simmons' "Hyperion" my imagination immediately took root casting Her Serenity as a sort of feminine Shrike, with the blade trait restricted only to her hair. As I'm sure you know, our first mental images are always the strongest and hardest to shake. It wasn't until more than two years later that I even heard of Planescape: Torment, which sparked my interest in all that was Planescapery. It has truly been an amazing discovery to find the huge wealth of knowledge that is the planewalker community and the dozens of websites dedicated to Sigil and the Planescape setting - I had never even *heard* of Planescape before. Like Ravenloft and Dragonlance, Planescape, despite its huge cult following, is nigh-unheard of and largely ignored in 3E parlance due to its major eclipsion by the much more marketable Forgotten Realms setting. As an aspirant to an eclectic and all-encompassing style of DMing, I find myself fascinated with these "pocket systems", and try to find ways to incorporate, or at least make allowances for, them in all my games. It's a bit difficult, after all, to know what to do when one of your more experienced players decides to try to open a gate to Athas if you don't know about Dark Sun. You can just say no, but that's somehow lacking - it's nowhere near as engrossing as if the DM says, 'Roll your pecentile check to penetrate the Gray. You succeed? You find yourself in Athas, dying of dehdration and surrounded by slavering, naked beings clamoring for the wealth of your metal armor...rings...weapons...'

I didnt even hear about the lady until I started clicking on the Manual of The Planes forum on the D&D forums. After that I have rather liked Planescape, and have incopraorated it as the majority of my outer and inner planes for my homebrew.(plus some of my own additions and premade variants)
