How does the composite bows differ from the standard bows, in terms of Thac0 modifiers. A standard hand weapon uses the strength ‘To Hit’ modifier, while standard bows (long bows, short bows, cross bows….) and other throwing weapons (knives, slings….) use the missile adjustment based on the dexterity of the individual. It is my understanding that the composite bows use the strength one, but I can’t find out where it is written. But there’s the fact that it is still a bow, so…. Should I use the strength modifiers for both ‘To Hit’ and Damage? Only for the ‘To Hit’? Only for the Damage? Use the missile adjustment (Dex) for the ‘To Hit’ and the Strength for the Damage? Use the best of either Str or Dex adjustments, or stack both of them? So many question for one simple weapon. Thank you for your replies -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 2] Author : sandskimmer Date : 09-03-03 02:45 PM Composite bows do not use strength mods. They simply have a greater range. You are thinking of strength bows. (Mighty in 3e) In 2ed, strength bows gave you your strength mod to damage (but with no upper limit). So if you had a girdle of storm giant strength, you'd do some serious hurtin' with a strength bow. See page 96 of the 2ed PHB, under the bows description. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [Post 3] Author : Noctaris Aquilas Date : 09-03-03 02:57 PM All right.
