I was planning to run a campaign involving the second Dragon Wars, but became extremely confused when looking at the Dragonlance Adventures book for 2nd edition.

On the timeline, it says the following:

2692 PC: Second Dragon War of Silvanesti begins...
Construction of Thorbardin begins...

2645 PC: Second Dragon War ends...
A mighty hero, Huma of the Lance discovers the Dragonlance...

This is fine except:

1225 PC: Knights of Solamnia formed...

So my question is this: How is Huma a Knight of the Crown 1400 years before the Knights of Solamnia are formed by Vinas Solamnus?

Does the 3.5 DLCS clear up that confusion in the timeline??

I'm not sure if it is fixed in the 3.5 DLCS, as I don't have that book yet.

Unless I'm mistaken, which I have been from time to time (I'm sure you're all as suprised by that as I am), the DLCS is already 3.5 compatible. Especially with the errata.

The DLCS has a full timeline, with lots of detail, here is a brief bit.

Time of the Knights 2000-900 PC
1799-1791 PC: Rose Rebellion and Fall of Ergoth
1775 PC : Knights of Solamnia
1060-1018 PC: Third Dragon War (tells brief history) Human Dragonbane (tells story briefly)

General BringerO'Death apparently is of the same mindset that I am of. if you read many of the books in the late 80's and early 90's, then the timeline that you are left with is that it goes......

1) 2nd DragonWar
2) Vinas Solamnus rebels, forms Knights of Solamnia
3) 3rd DragonWar
4) Huma, banishes Takhisis.
5) Kinslayer War.

If you read the books out back then, that is the impression you are going to be left with, which I more or less have ran with. I realize that the official line is different, but I like my own storyline better.

This was fixed back in the 2nd edition days.

Basically, the 2nd dragonwar was misnamed, because humanity didn't know that the first dragonwar was the one between elves and dragons.

Therefore Huma actually fought in the third one.

Tracy gave us another explanation in his Anvil of Time...

According to the DCLS, Huma's war takes place around 1200 PC.

Yeah, that's been the date ever since the Tales of the Lance boxed Set came out. (And in the SAGA stuff as well)

Only the very first DLA had the snafu about Huma being a Knight before Solamnia existing.

The Legend of Huma novel actually started off with a small chapter where Astinas of Palanthas explains that the "snafu" was due to the oversight of a particularly inept Aesthetic at the Library in Palanthas. :embarrass

Yeah, the TotL said something about the "Lost Notes" of Sir Tracy.
