One of the PCs in the game I DM was splashed with a vial of water from the Styxs, a while back. She didnt know it at the time (still doesnt know it) but she is pregneant with a half fiend. I was thinking of allowing the child to a strange ability to to remember things that were forgotten by other people int he styx (not much just minor confusing glimses). But I dont know how to implement it. Any one have any ideas how this could be pulled off? Or does any one have a better idea of what would happen? (FYI there has been no attempt to return the charachters memmories as of yet.)

How about some psi-like abilities? The link should take you to a 3.5 psionics SRD, if you don't have the XPH. I was thinking object reading and/or sensitivity to psychic impressions.

A quick question: how long is she really going to go before she figures out that she's pregnant. I mean, usually it's not long, and with a half-fiend, it's gotta be pretty weird.

Shes an elf. So about a year at most before she even knows. and then another year or so before the kid is actually born... well Atleast thats whats normal for an elf, the process might speed up due to the fact that its a half-fiend.

Why so long? My wife knew the month after conception. You can tell long before there are any visual changes. For elves that would be 2-3 months probably. Though I guess elves could work differently, maybe just one cycle per year?

You also have to take into account that the charachter has no reason to believe theya re pregneant, so unless it is capable to find out that your pregneant within one month without purposfully trying it would be awhile longer.

Umm... what about when the menstral cycle stops? That's a pretty big clue. It also actually happens only two weeks after conception in a human. So 2 weeks is all it takes.

Lots of humans have a somewhat unstable cycle. One of the things that can upset it is stress, and an unplanned pregnancy can add a lot of stress to ones life. Some females even skip entire cycles. But the thought of "I might be pregnant" will be there within a month, more likely than not.

You've got to take into account an elf's life cycle. They age much less quickly than a human does therefore their bodily cycles would also slow down. Makes sense, right?

I don't remember where I read it but, I think the generally accepted period for elven gestation is 2 years?

yes the total gestation period for an elf is two years, I personally found this from *cough*bookoferroticfantasy*cough* and now that I have been reminded to take menstral cycle into account, if it goes by proportionally (1 mount for humans who are pregneant 9 months vs. elfs 24 months) it comes out at a little over every two and a half months.

You could have also found it in The Complete Book of Elves from 2e if you weren't such a perv :D

"Races of Stone" states that female Gnomes, having a 350+ years lifespan, can conceive children every 5 years.
