There are 3 symbionts described in the Eberron Campaign Setting: tongueworm, living breastplate and tentacle whip. All are CR 1 or host +1. They can be used by anyone and daelkyrs have special affinities with them. They're intelligent (Int 6) and evil. The Symbiont section of the Monsters chapter uses the same rules on symbionts that Dragon #308 and Fiend Folio use. The Fiend Folio symbionts are more rhulisti-like, the Dragon ones are perfectly illithid in nature, and the daelkyr's are more of a nature-bender type. In all those sources, the symbionts are weapons, armors or sensing apparatus. The more general uses for life-shapes found in Windriders of the Jagged Cliffs have not yet been ported to 3rd edition in any official publication, to my knowledge. |

I'm going to start working on that soon while the rest of the bureau works on editing TotDL since I'm not an editor, heh. I might post a few things here and there from on the boards, but I plan to use the stuff presented in FF as a base. |
