Here is a regional map of the Kalidan area, known as Kalidan or Kalid's Land.

It is huge. Be prepared.

Yahoo Page builder took a dive on firefox, so I have posted it on an image site.

I am very bad at completing worlds I think of. It's not that I am lazy, just I get one idea one week and then a totally cooler idea the next week that makes that idea look like a waste of time. In other words, I am too creative when it comes to worlds. I will try to keep adding material as I can.

Not bad for a, I guess, pre Cleansing Wars Kalidnay.

Or is it a post, Kalid-ma goes insane and takes out the area, Kalidnay?

It is right before the Dragon of Kalidnay.

Athas is in a state of dying. Things were better a thousand years ago then now.

Like the map a lot Ral!

It is plausible for an entire sea to have dissapeared in 1,200 years, especially if you consider that less than a year after the map was drawn Kalid-Ma turned into a near Dragon and devastated his realm, which probably accelerated the loss of the sea.

I want to see more, Ral! I like a lot the Kalid-[enter word] stuff on the website also.

Quick question: what program did you use to make the map, and is it available online?

I used Adobe to create the base, then I used NBOS Fractal Mapper v1 for the symbols. I downloaded the program years ago and I have been making my own map symbols for it. The current version of Fractal Mapper is available at their website, however, it is only a demo and you cannot save maps. If you wish, I can email you the Dark Sun symbols.

I pictured all city-states in the past not to be city-states as they are now, but be small countries with lesser cities, towns and villages of the surrounding area under their control. The next thousand years, their areas of influence will shrink to a few miles outside their city wall. This makes for a different sort of Dark Sun game.

Runusa will either host an imprisoned water element-king or an underground aquaduct leading from the mountains.

Caravans from going or coming from Balic will have to pass through, Indrunay, to which with will have to be sent across the Kalidzar sea on barges.

As one could guess, they probably knew sailing and swimming skills.

The region around Indrunay was a bread-basket, the sea provided plenty of fish and the regions south rised beasts. The population was full feed. It was a paradise protected by mountains, sand dunes and plenty of forts.

Speaking of forts, their trade routes had a fort about a day's journy from each other, so caravans could always rest in a fort with protection.

Ral, you have two web sites (now 3). Do you still update these 3? One is named the Peninsula, the other one Ral of Tyr and this one with no html.

I'm considering creating an insane amounts of subdomains and launch an even more insane amount of small DS sites - then compile a link list with members only access and beat Grummore's list. Think he'll croak in frustration? But then again, that would be a mean thing to do against one's loyal familiar (mind you, Grum, I have less use for you now that you grant a measly 3 extra hp, rather than the good old +2 con). :D

I have, the Sundra Peninsula, Kalidnay and A Ral of Tyr site, which was originally for a pseudo Dark Sun world called Desert of Decadance. However, I could not do what I could with that site, so I use it as an image host. Since I get 100megs, I will use it to host images for the other sites.

I will try to update them as best I can.
