I've updated the 3.5 prestige class doc. Minor changes mostly, and I've added a new class - the Kuotagha.

And in case it wasn't in the previous version of the prestige class doc, Dregoth's templars - the Templars of the Scale - are now in the doc. Note that they should have Secular Authority listed as a class ability at 1st level. They will in the next update. Consider the Templar of the Scale a sneak teaser for Dregoth Ascending chapter 1.

I've re-posted the doc with a little errata. Savage base attack progression should be +1 per level, Templars of the Scale now have Secular Authority, Leeches require an obsidian orb (probably more to follow on that one).

The prestige class doc has been updated again. Tik-tik class has been added. Also, the poisonmaster has a new trick - Quicken Poison, and the Chasseur has a new ability - Nullify Defense*.

Make sure to use the new URL: http://www.sederqvist.com/ao/downloads.htm

*Note: If anyone downloaded the document earlier today, the Nullify Defense ability has been spread out over 5 levels now. Please download again.

I downloaded every other incarnation of Jon's PrC document in the past but can't save this one. The computer tells me "The document could not be saved. This operation is not permitted."

Anyone else has this problem?

Odd. I can download it, so can my friend. We use the same browser as you do. Right click (pdf) and choose Save Target as. That should work in any case.

It's probably because you're french canadian. The Acrobat Reader software detects it and behaves accordingly. :P

No, I think its because when the opening window for Acrobat first loads it says "Paid for by the party for Bush" and then a small sound bite says "I approved it!".

Tell her its a fancy dress party.

Also if the Wives are high level templars doesnt that make em completely naked?
Or are they just half naked (and which half)?

Nothing wrong with two right hands, the original DS talked about all the different colours and mutations of humans.

High level templars are completely nude or wear totally revealing clothing according to the novels, PrC, and other sources.

Mid-level are topless and low level are usually skimpy from what I remember.

I had to reread the relevant passages in PP to flesh him out as an NPC and like Jon I came to the conclusion that Nibenay brought, or sent, his son (one of many) to the Pristine Tower, but that unlike what happens for all other people who go there he didn't turn into a random creature but in precisly the form (and new powers) that Nibenay wanted for his son.

As described in the PP he's pretty unbeatable: shrugs off spells, weapons break on his skin, he falls down from high above and survives to come back, ...

I never said he was taken to the Pristine Tower. A magical experiment could just as easily been magical manipulation of the fetus of a normally conceived child (as normal as the child of a dragon king is by default that is) to give it the half-cilops traits.

Sorry, I never meant you said that particular phrase, but you did say he was a magical experiment, and that's what I was refering to.
The part about going to the Tower, that's from the novel. Its strongly suggested to Sadira that that is how Dhojakt came to be the way he is physically.

The prestige class document has been updated again. It now includes 3.5 versions of the prestige classes from City State of Draj, as well as most of the city-specific templar prestige classes. Only Tyr remains. The doc also includes the 10-level Psionic Monk and Soulknife, but the latter of the two needs a lot of fleshing out, as commented in the doc. Enjoy.

(You can get the prestige class doc from the Downloads section on my site).

Templar prestige classes:

Moon Priest (Draj)
Oba's Servant (Gulg)
Servant of Badna (Raam)
Shadow Templar (Balic)
Templar of the Scale (Guistenal)
Yellow Cloak (Urik)
Wife of Nibenay (Nibenay)

Any name suggestions for Kalak's templars?

  • Templar of the Golden Tower
  • Black Cassock (If Urik Templars are to be Yellow Cloaks)
  • King's Templar (vague in the context of the Tablelands, but no one would think of asking "Which one of the Kings?" in Tyr under Kalak's reign)

I like both Templar of the Golden Tower and Black Cassock - perhaps the second one more than the first, even though it sounds a tad more colloquial. I'd also suggest a Balican templar class for games set before Andropinis ended up in the Black, possibly with abilties based around legal manipulation, intimidation and interrogation (given the description of Balic templars in EAFW).

I have to say it. I love the prestige classes. They are wonderful. (I personally like the black cassok idea for a name for kalaks templars.)

BTW, by those prestige classes, the scariest combination I can think of for a defiler on his way to dragonhood would be something like: Psion (telepath)/wizard/leech/myrmilion/cerebremancer. As they could already immitate most of the things the low level dragons were capable of in 2ed. and the fluff.

for instance: a psion 3/wizard 3/leech 2/myrmilion 2/cerebremancer 10 ... has 13th level manifester level (7th level powers), 17th level arcane caster (9th level spells), and have the ability to use animal life energy to power spells (as well as boost their caster level for a spell with their own life force), able to hide their defiler taint, and able to store 17 levels of spell energy for later use.

overall that is a scary thought.

But it fits so well with Athas, just like all the other prestige classes. I have to say I love it. Any thoughts on necromantic based prestige classes for athas..... either those seeking to gain undeath.... or ones that seek to remove them.... (for instance a dwarvern PRC that is focussed on placing banshees to rest and such.)

I was wondering if anybody was working or has worked on the Hunter Noble's and Judaga's (from Gulg) PrCs, yet.

I'm working on them at the moment and I'm looking for ideas. I have started by loosely basing the Hunter Noble on the Bloodhound fom MotW (like Prey for is Mark ability, Pacekeeping and Determination for example) but of course, other abilities as well (like noble recognition, slave companions, fetish related abilities, tattoos and ceremonial powers invested by the Hunter Cult and th Oba herself) and the Judaga Archer on the Deepwood sniper from the same source. I would make the HuN a full-fledged 10-level PrC while the JuW and JuA 5-level ones. The Judaga Warrior would be a great ambusher using guerilla tactics (using the trees for better concealment, maybe a head-slicing attack, etc.).

I unfortunately don't have my work with me at the moment, but will show you what I got (unfinished) probably on Monday. Until then lads...

An idea for the pre-prism pentad balican templars could be like "Balican Representatives" or something relating to elected officials as all templars were nominally elected representatives of the people. Like someone else mentioned, their special powers could focus on wrangling the political system and tricking other people (they were famous for their debate abilities, tricking people into admitting they had committed a crime, etc), coercing people or whatever.

I've read in the Wanderer's Journal that the most favourite templars of Kalak had steel swords... why not "Steel Sword(s)"? or something like this... "Steel Phalanx", "Steel Knight", "Steel diduladudum"... or maybe a roman title as (I don't know in english) légat, centurion, tribun, licteur, etc.

Er, Jon, I was perusing your PrC file and I came upon what I think is a mistake. Your Arrow Knight's class features' table is the same as your Eagle Knight's, and it probably shouldn't be.
