Just wanted to check with all you rule gurus out there.

I have a friend of mine (an odd friend..) who wants to play a Human Rogue/Mystic with the Insight Domain. As you may know, the Insight domain provides the free Uncanny Dodge class skill.

It says in the Player's Handbook 3.5ED that Rogues are entitled to getting Improved Uncanny Dodge when they normally get Uncanny Dodge, if they already have that ability from ANOTHER CLASS.

This is the stickler. He didn't get the power from another class, but from a domain. Should he be entitled to getting this feat so early, or is this an attempt to worming around the rules?

Please advise..

Well, the Insight domain granted power description states that the Uncanny Dodge extraordinary ability given by the granted power of the domain automatically improves to Improved Uncanny Dodge if you later gain Uncanny Dodge from a second class. Nothing indicates that it would be against the rules should the reverse be the case, where a rogue with Uncanny Dodge then gains Uncanny Dodge from a Mystic domain and thus has Improved Uncanny Dodge. Since domains can only be acquired through the taking of a class (e.g. Mystic, Cleric, etc.), it's quite reasonable to conclude that any domain granted powers are from the class that granted that domain, and thus within the meaning of the text in the PHB and DLCS.

The Insight domain is a class feature of the mystic in question, so this counts as being another class. The rogue/mystic will have Improved Uncanny Dodge (whic isn't a feat).
