Hello, fellow Greyhawk players out there!

Those of you who read my thread about the new fan sourcebook for WoG I am writing, might remember that I declared to have it finished and online in the first days of november on a site yet to be named.

Of course, neither this preview nor the final, complete book is in no way official or connected to Wizards, even not based entirely on the WoG canon that is generally accepted.

Until this date of free public release, I have decided to offer you at the Wizards Community Board an exclusive preview every week from now on.(Actually, because it's the only rpg forum I belong to ;) )

Below features the text I intend to be on the final back cover.

I hope this may encourage you to download my complete work later...

Kul'gobsula
Prison of Ice

Most people of the north have seldom seen an elf, and some even don't believe them to be only
stuff for songs and legends.
Such songs tell about a forlorn past,
about an forgotten Olven empire, so mighty and beautiful as if to rival the stars in their splendour.
And about how the Crippled One waged war on it
and how Aliador, the mightiest kingdom in Oerth's history, came to fall and nothing was left.

Yet, those living near the harsh and snowy Griff Mountains still believe that there is something out there.
They tell of dark, black fantasms,
the haunting ghosts of the elves, that fell by the hands Vecna's minions more than 1500 years ago.
And they tell about their terrible wrath and their desire for vengeance.
One day, or so they tell, when the pride of humankind is at its highest point,
the gates of Aliador will open again to bring horror and destruction to the people of Oerth.

Kul'gobsula - Prison of Ice, an unofficial guidebook for the Greyhawk Campaign setting, details the region of ancient Olven kingdom Aliador in the Griff Mountains at the time of the Greyhawk Wars, a whole new region to use in any Greyhawk campaign set in the northeastern parts of the Flanaess. The Olven of old seem to have become extinct or changed into the horrific Abyss Elves, and another race of cruel beings has claimed dominion for the abandoned cities of the once light and glorious elven realm...
All rules are intended to fit into D&D 3.5 edition.

This book is intended for game masters' use only.

Don't hesistate ;) to post here!
I don't want the thread to be lost and forgotten too quickly!

*I have no commercial interest in it, it's just that if I write something like this, I want as many people as possible to read it!*

I look forward to reading of your take on Aliador. I've forgotten if that was introduced by Steve Wilson in his old Oerth Journal chronologies or was a bit by Sargent. If the latter (or even if not), I wonder if you've read Dunsany's King of Elfland's Daughter. It wasn't what I expected but very interesting. I enjoyed some of his lyric poems better but was blown away by the description of Lyrazel (sp?) as she was ... blown away.

It's from Steve Wilson's old OJ stuff, though Steve did weave in the City of Summer Stars from Ivid the Undying.

I rely entirely on the Oerth Journal material.

The details in Carl Sargent's :embarrass Ivid :embarrass did not find their way into my work (until now, at least), as I altered the story in some parts...

I didn't read Dunsany's King of Elfland's Daughter, what is it about?
I have to read the famous Faerie Qweene (?spelling?) for autumn, but other books concerning the elves I do not know. - I think that's not bad, because so it preserves the GH flavour and doesn't become a Tolkien or Tad Williams clone. Or so I hope, at least. ;)
